Thumbs down Done for the season

Backfire issue still ocurred last night, even with known good LS7 coils. So I drive back to the pits, shut the car down it it backfired on shutdown...WTF.

Went to pull the log and the laptop wouldn't commuicate with the BS3...WTF

Dig further, the BS3 still powered up the racepak dash, but all the signals (voltage, water temp, etc) were reading 0...WTF

check 5V references at a few engine sensors, only getting ~.9V...WTF

Guess something finally fried in the BS3

Dunno what BS3 (the company) will do...but I've got a sick feeling in my stomach

Either way, we know for sure it had to be the box causing the backfires...we tried everything else and no cure.

Guess its time for a distributor setup which isn't in the budget for this year so I guess I'm calling it quits

Almost debating on parting out the car at this point

Your car is bad ***, it would be a shame to part out all that hard work, time, and money. When I get sick of the bull **** with my car I put it away in storage for a month or so and get it back out when the need for speed bug starts to itch. By then I have a nice clear mind to go back at it. Hope you work every thing out.

Frustration is tough stuff...but you're at the one yard line. Can you try someone's box just for testing?

Put the car away for a while, save a couple green backs, drink a few margaritas and lets fix her. How much crap do you have in the garage you can sell to fund the distributor project?

No no no dont part it out! If you are gunna part it out, the parts better be going into your new race car...

Dont give up man, I know it's a pain in the *** when stuff goes wrong. Take a deep breath, have a beer, think of everything that has ever gone right with the car and how much fun you've had with it, and then start working on it.

You got this far man, you have the skills to fix it.

Sorry to hear about the trouble Brian. Try to email Kurt Urban at kuperf@aol.com and ask if he can help out with the BS3. His is tight with John Meaney (owner BS3). If you do not know Kurt, tell him I sent you.

don't think so, but we're gonna use the downtime to pull the motor apart and see how it looks inside...not too many people have been pushing a stock LS2 block past the 1700 hp barrier

It's interesting on how some cars run 7's and low 8's (Turley) and don't have ignitions but others do have ignition problems (Brown, you). Good luck, hopefully Meaney will cut you some slack.

I put my car away 2 years ago for about 8 months. Best thing I ever did as i was tired of thrashing all the time.

Stick with it. Stuff like this sucks, but you will kick yourself when the racing bug hits you again and you are building another car and spending money all over again.
