Default Sts turbo

What does everyone think of STS turbo kits? The only reason I would consider one would be because its Smog-legal, streetable and you have all the power unlike N/A cars where one little upgrade like cam or headers and you cant even drive it anywhere.

If any of you out there have tried or still have STS turbo kits on your 2000-2002 camaro f-bodies, please give Me feedback and advice on this:

-if I should get STS turbos or not?
-if yes, please tell Me how big of a turbo (mm) should I go with?
-list of supporting mods
-WHAT CAM SPECS & HEADS

Please Im very close to purchasing one but I dont want to make BIG Mistake.

Any help will be appreciated, thanks

Call and talk to freddy over at sts. I ordered mine last week w/ a t-67 upgrade/meth/hp tuners/and elect boost controller. They actually take the time to explain everything. The new kits are revised with dual tailpipes, and better ground clearence. Also comes with FMIC. The base kit comes with 42# injectors and predator tuner. I upped to 60# and hp tuners. As far as customer service they are great people to work with.
Good Luck!!!!

You can just do a homemade ebay kit with a turbo from Modular Turbo and spend about 3k. No lag time and looks nice under your hood.

Listen to my STS on the Dyno. This was the 2nd pull, at the end I made 600 RWHP with less then 7 lbs of boost, on a VERY conservative tune. I drive this car everyday, NO PROBLEMS AT ALL. STS has been great to me.

ive have dealt with sts in a fashion in which most would not. i would agree that they are great with customer service and are very helpful with tech support. i see nothing wrong with using the sts style "kits", but im a fan of turbos staying where the heat is.

only issue would be a little lag, but ****, its not all that damn bad.

whoa.... since when and who the hell "on headers" can't drive their car around, it gives you about 20 HP and changes nothing else, no shift points no idle nothign. there are way more cammed cars running around daily than there are turbo cars that's for sure. ( it's a lot cheaper) an extreme cam effects drivablity, but you can put down well into the 400's and still have a very driveable car.

If you don't know how to work on a turbo car you probably shouldn't bother unless you have deep pockets.

and that was 530 ... not 600. unless you have another dyno pull vid.. .. 7 PSI isn't 600 HP on a LS1 car.

No No NOOOOOo!!!!! Your gonna catch hell in highwater trying to get that thing to pass smog. I know sts has the 50 state stamp but you have to have cats. Gutting them can land you a huge fine. I would say just by a p1sc tuner kit and be done with it. You can make good power with those kits for the same price of a sts. Also if you are new to the FI world then get ready to shell major bucks. I have a rearmount set up its a love hate deal with me tho. To some of the guys who posted about the cams and so on he is in cali so he is alreadl 4 steps dowwn lol. but honestly if your lookin for 400+ hp a thunder racing sleeper cam with all the bolt on will get you close and you can still pass smog because the cam is desighn to run on stock exhaust.

I love how well, everyone reads. THAT video made 530, the FINAL PULL made 600.

I actualy sold my car to a friend here localy and he tuned it on pump gas and 12lbs of boost with the maf not speed density and made 750 rwhp with a safe tune.Needless to say thats with a 408 and an 88mm turbo outback so you can make power with a rearmount but Ill b the first to tell you It takes time and alot of trial and error to get the set-up wright. Now on speed density and e-85 it will be over 850 rwhp hes thinking without a problem and then start adding the boost
