Default Trev's L92/LS3 + baby turbo = 500+rwhp *LOTS OF PICS*

Gday everyone from over the pond. Just thought I'd chuck up my new build here for your perusal... The car is a 2004 Holden VY SS Commodore.

GM L92/LS3 engine

- 69mm compressor inducer
- 91mm compressor exducer
- 67mm exhaust exducer
- 74mm exhaust inducer
- 700hp flow rating.
- 600x300x70mm Delta fin intercooler
- 3.5” dump pipe
- 2” crossover pipe
- 40mm NB schedule 40 steam pipe manifold
- 44mm v-band wastegate
- 3” aluminium mandrel bent intercooler pipework
- Aluminium header tank
- Speedflow Oil feed line
- POD Air filter
- Bosch BOV

Rollmaster Double row timing chain
Siemens/VDO injectors 83 lbs/hr (873cc/min)
PSI beehive valve springs
ARP main studs
New GM crank bolts
New VZ sump and oil pick up
90mm Holley throttle body
2 bar map sensor
Elite catch can
ASE turbo blanket
ASE Fuel system –
- 2x Walbro 550hp in tank pumps

I am very happy with the manners/drive-ability it has retained due to being my daily driver but hopefully will be going to a GT45 turbo, forged 418ci, NOS, water/meth, heads and cam in the future.

Cheers,
Trev...

thats a pretty cool setup. that filter looks a little small though, i wonder if you could fit a bigger one on there.

You need another one for the other side. Nice build.

Can you run a 90 deg elbow behind the headlight? You could put an huge filter in the fender! Good looking setup

Is your DP 3.5in from the turbo or after it exits under the car?

Cheers buddy. That is the one that came with the turbo kit and will be getting replaced and relocated.

LOL yeah and another $10k. It was either another turbo or BIG brakes, the latter won.

Thank you mate. Yeah I am in the process of sourcing an elbow and larger filter to relocate behind the front bar.

DP is 3.5" from the turbo only. Rest of the system is 2.5" but will be going to twin 3" sometime in the near future, I've just tried to keep it stealthy/quiet..

That is a nice setup. I think a second MP70 on there would be pretty badass.

Hey buddy, which label are you after ?? The side airbag label or the tyre placard ??

Here's the placard... If its the other one you need let me know and I'll snap a pic of it for you.

Thanks dude. Would be nice but I think a 418 with forged internals etc will be a better/safer package in the long run rather than sticking another turbo on the standard motor.

Thanks bro, that's the one. I was hoping that these GM Australian cars were "one world" (I think that's what it's called) cars. I'm looking into buying a commuter car and something like your Commodore would have been sweet. I guess I'll just have to find something else.

Just curious what you guys think in regards to the size of the injectors ??

Also what sort of boost levels do you think would be safe to run for a daily driver ??

Thanks,
Trev...

Cool thanks.

Also wondering roughly what is a safe boost level to run on a standard engine if daily driven ?? I know a lot probably comes down to the tune, driving style, etc and this is more than likely a dumb question but I am just curious all the same.

Put the new intake/filter on.

A few shots from a memorial cruise for Peter Brock.

Took her over to LSX Tuning for a tickle after installing the new filter and to get her ready for her maiden run down the 1/4 on 20" street tyres. Suffered from some wheelspin on the rollers also. Have been looking at a GT42 upgrade and water/meth kit next.

Heres a quick vid and pic of the result.

Nah not that I know of mate, no. They were sold as Chevy Luminas in UAE but the closest over there is the Pontiac GTO from what I gather. It is a 2004 Holden VY SS Series 2, heres what it looked like stock.

Thank you very much buddy.

Yeah I hear ya and when I picked mine up from the paint shop my comment to the painter was, got any blacker !!!

whats the curb weight that vehicle, it looks very similar to the new G8 over here.

lol, those are the same wheels that came stock over here on the GTO. lol, nice ride man, congrats on the build, impressive numbers.

also, is that a real "KIT" or something some one made as a "one off" project.

Picked this up on red book, however accurate it might be??

Model: VY II SS Sedan 4dr Man 6sp 5.7
Kerb Weight:....1658kg
Tare Mass: ....1602kg
Gross Vehicle Mass:.... 2275kg
Most are around 1800+kg full weight from what I understand. I work next to a weighbridge so I will roll it in one day and find out exactly.

The wheels are the same yes. Cheers buddy.

The turbo kit is a proper kit that anyone can buy. http://genracing.com.au/genrkit.html
