Default Turbo VAN goes 12's.....

Well, another midnight mahem at LVMS in las vegas. Much cooler weather. A regular c6 zo6 was running 12.7's to 13.2's and 3's. A new regular 09 vette was running low 13's. The rest were slower. A friends nitroused ta that made 410 rwhp on a mustang went 12.96 .

The van went 12.95 @ 102.7 with a 1.84 60. I actually lowered the shift rpm again....now its shifting at 5860. No one really will run it now. I got in the open (random pair) lanes, and no one would line up. I asked the track lane person, and was told to get a grudge match, which I couldnt. So, they ran me as a single..... The video of the 12.95 will be posted later with no one in the other lane.

I have a race for you. I watched the Power Block on Spike this morning. They had a reader's ride, a school bus that runs 11's

Bowman just ran his turbo Camaro at LVMS today. He ran the same number he ran in Bakersfield (actually a few hundreths faster in vegas I think).

Just an observation.

possibly, but it doesn't explain the low MPH everything here seems to run. I lined up next to a C6 Z06 on one pass and he ran a 13.3 @ 115 to my 10.7 @ 130 with a 200lb passenger, 4050lb scaled race weight (1.82 60', best 60' of the night).

Bike guys don't understand why their modded 1000-1300cc bikes only trap 135-140 when the mags put them at 145-150 mph stock.

Well Vegas is full of people from everywhere....like chi town...lol

No its horrible track management/ track prep for real cars, and bad air. Today was probably one of the best days of the year.

Why was Bowman at a open test in Vegas today? It was a vette club race and some supras I think. Last night there was a 09 vette (auto) running low 13's...he was the second fastest vette there too the zo6 that ran as fast as 12.7. Probably 15 others vettes made a pass or two, and all ran slower.

Bowman was at the showdown in Sin City. Jeff at Jawsgear put the event on and he drives a Supra. Bowman ran 1mph faster than he ran in Bako. I have another buddy who raced there last year (66 Impala with 406 and 2 kits). He ran times and MPH consistent with other tracks in California. He will be back in Vegas at the street car super nationals in November.

You just seem to be lining up next to the average Joe with the DD corvettes.

Yea I ve seen the wheelie school bus run. A little different.....its probably lighter, all it is , is a skin with something like a 1500 hp blown bbc. Try it with a rock solid 700 rpm idle, absolutely oem stock drivability with a 5.3.

I have yet to see a the random 7 sec car on the street, or even 11sec car for that matter, so yes I line up with dd vettes (Iimagine that), in a dd van. The fastest things I see on the street, come to the house, and I call them friends.

In a 12 sec bracket car, a couple weeks ago in fontana, it ran .3-.4 faster then it has all year in vegas. The da in fontana was 2400 on one pass and latter 4400ft on the tag.

Maybe when you run a 2000+hp car on a drag radial it doesnt really slow down cause the traction issues out weigh the hp it lost. Whan it losses 10% of its power that it didnt need anyways? Like turning a turbo busa down and going faster?

Turbo cars run very well at altitude compared to N/A cars because you are making your own atmosphere. That's why turbo cars will run similar times up high compared to sea level as long as the turbo is not maxing out. Also why the whole NHRA correction factor of altitude doesn't really apply to 1/4 mile times of turbo cars, and why the large dyno correction factors don't make sense either. People with turbo cars are going to be very disappointed if they think they are going to magically drop a second off their quarter mile time by driving down to a sea level track.

in my gn, I would run 11.20's -30's in vegas and on the same exact tune, go 10.90's at pomona, which isnt sea level. It also responded much better, made boost sooner, and drove better. I could even turn the boost up (cooler air) and go 10.7's.

At terminal island, which was sea level (if you miss the end of the track you ended up in the water) I d be up 10 mph.....with the same et, cause it was a parking lot and traction just sucked.

Congrats, it sounds like you had a turbo that would max out at altitude compared to sea level.
