Default carb hat vs box.

My brother has a procharger on his sbc and he's giving me the carb and carb hat for my ls1 impala profect. And he also has a vortech boost carb box. Its just basically a box where the carb sits inside with one port for the air to come in from the tubing. My question which is better?

I have no idea what the box you just described is, but I would think the carb hat would flow better than a "box".

The carb "enclosure" is a PITA to deal with. The hat is much easier to work around and FWIW, the "cool looking" factor. Also, the taller, the better flow direction into the carb.

The more surface area the air cleaner has the better.... unless the filter material is very porous. In that case why even use one

i prefer the hat, the box has got to be a pita to work on the carb-the only advantage is the carb doesnt need all the mods that a hat/carb needs, and may be a lower profile
the thing that would concern me is if a leak occured, gotta be a fireball waiting to happen

No difference in carb setup in a box vs hat......unless the box has funny distribution.
