Other than the look, I'm not sure why you'd choose a roots style, unless maybe it's a Whipple. Here is one example, and they claim at least 600 hp

I made over 600 rwhp with a Procharger D1-SC at 13 psi, now making 775 with an F1-C at 14 psi, should be over 800 at 16 psi when I'm done. With tuning it's very streetable, minimal surging, fires right up with a nice sounding idle, shifts normally, and runs 9s on pump gas.
But I'd definitely forge the bottom end. (I run a Callies Dragon Slayer crank with dual cotter keys) I'd also call Bob @ EPP to see what a centrifugal would do for you.

100% stock ls2 headers meth and vortech v3 at 8 lbs over 600 rwhp over 400 lbs at 2600 rpm 450 lbs tq from 3500 rpm 500 lbs ft from 4200rpm
a&a kit with ugraded 3.5 intercoooler and the v3 t trim 4.0 pulley
i think with a cam i could get 660 easy and still have very good manners
drives better than stock 30mpg freeway 18 city
next up cam and forged bottom end 3.4 pulley
