Default VA Speed 370 ci 1500hp street/strip engine

Here are some pics of my street/strip iron block 370 that I had Shawn do for me. This thing turned out killer. It is important to remember that Shawn knows what works with the LS engines, and trusting him to tailor a package to your needs with his known combination of parts will ensure a successful combo.
Wait until we get done with my new C5R race engine! That car will get a 106mm turbo and 388 cubes. More details on that one will come.

Anyways this one got stuffed with a lot of great parts to come up with a reliable package. This one will carry on with the previous Veee8 custom turbo headers and GT47-88 turbo and W2A intercooler.
Fully blueprinted .030" over iron 6.0L block
Pinned main caps
Half Hard Block fill
ARP main studs
1/2" ARP head studs
Virginia Speed Double O-ring head gasket system
Melling Oil Pump
Cloyes Timing set
3/8" custom pushrods
Callies Dragonslayer 3.62" Crank
Modified Wiseco pistons with Tool Steel pins
Total Seal rings
Coated Clevite bearings
Callies H/I beam rods
Moroso alluminum oil pan
ATI balancer
All new GM front and rear covers
Custom VASpeed valley cover
Cutom VASpeed valve covers
GM LS7 rockers
ETP small bore CNC LS7 heads
REV valves
Custom VASpeed/Manley Nextek valve springs
Custom VASpeed hydraulic roller cam
GMPP LS7 single plane efi intake
A lot of custom touches went into this one. Thanks Shawn!
I think that is about it.

The GT47-88 turbo is good for around 1550 or so. This was built to reach max potential of that turbo, and possibly step up to a Pro-Mod 94mm and 1700hp or so.
HP is easy to make with a turbo. Having it reliable and last a while was the main goal.

You won't have any cooling issues on the street with the Hard block fill?

That should be a very stout combo. Like the idea that you guys are running the LS7 style heads. If there a reason why you didn't go with TFS style heads?

the only thing you have to look out for when using block fill is high oil temps,if you are using a good oil cooler you will have no issues on the street.

he got a killer deal on the heads-so they were used,i could build a similar engine using almost any aftermarket casting-but i do perfer to use the ETP style(Performance Inductions) casting-they seem to hold the head gaskets in much better

You won't have any problem. Reason being is the most of the heat is generated at the top of the cylinders during combustion. I've seen blocks hard filled up to 1" below the top of the water jacket with no issues.

This whole combo with old turbo kit is going into the silver car.
The copper car is getting the full race treatment with 25.3 cage, 106mm, new turbo headers, PT2400 IC etc... oh and a full tilt VASpeed C5R 6 bolt race engine.

Where ever I can! Been to Rockingham, Zmax, Fayetteville, and Coastal Plains in Jacksonville is the closest. Been 9.0 at all of them before, and 8.80's at Zmax, all on low boost with the old engine in street trim. All have decent shutdowns for 150+ mph shutdown with a chute.

Thats the key I guess, knowing how to put it all together so you can get close to the max potential from a given turbo.

Or, is it better to build a single turbo set-up in a way where you are NOT getting close to the max output so it doesn't need to be pushed to the limit?

There is a difference to pushing it to the limit, and keeping it in the sweet spot of the map. The bigger turbos are going to be a lot happier higher in the map then below the surge line trying to limit them down.
With a properly designed turbo kit and intercooler system, you can utilize the max potential of a turbo, without overworking it.

So if I upgrade to bigger head studs, and go solid copper gasket and 0-ring and hard-fill I can run 1500 hp out of a LQ9? With thick deck heads...?

definitely not the block must be drilled out for 1/2" studs.

Not to mention TFS's horrible customer service that mostly stems from obsurd response time.
