Default Speed density and auto transmissions hear maf is needed or transmissions get damaged?

Realize this might be better asked in transmission or tuning sections but since it is directly applicable to US FI guys who are big time users of speed density figure would ask it here and mabye it won't get moved.

Is this statement true..I am running 3 bar and can't go back to maf.Just getting my 4l80 swap finished up and should have car running in next few days. But read about maf being essential for proper operation of the auto trans and read line pressure will increase or something and damage the trans if you run no maf.
Is this all BS?
Or is this why big hp sd fi guys mabye run trans in full manual mode or is this line pressure from no maf worry only for stock transmissions?

I am paranoid now about this. So who is running sd with auto tranny that are still operated thru our stock ecus..I have hptuners.

"P0100
Mass or Volume Air Flow Circuit Malfunction

P0101
Mass or Volume Air Flow Circuit Range/Performance Problem

P0102
Mass or Volume Air Flow Circuit Low Input

P0103
Mass or Volume Air Flow Circuit High Input

P0104
Mass or Volume Air Flow Circuit Intermittent

Any MAF code can affect transmissions performance. The MAF is used by the transmission part of the PCM to measure engine load and this is used to ajust LINE PRESURE with the PCS. If you use and aftermarket oiled type filter its a good idea to clean your MAF regularly as a dirty MAF can lead to transmission failure.

This is from our forum sponsor performabuilt.
I never heard of this either. I went over my tables that control transmission very thoroughly and found zero that use the maf to control line pressure? I am wondering if missed something if there is something that should turn on or off to make sure have no issues. I cannot go back to maf and not giving up computer control of my auto.
I am hoping this is not correct or does not apply to built autos like mine.

As said posted this here as feel this applies to us fi guys mostly since most of us run
sd with the bigger power fi builds.
I was running t56 until lately so no experience with sd and autos . I was going to also convert my auto talon to sd as well next season. And my 96 z might eventually go sd if go up too high on hp on it down the road.

Ok did more research on hptuners board. Pre 2001 ecu had it go to max line pressure when computer detected maf trouble code. You could disable them to get around the problem. I have converted my 99 to 2002 OS so thats why didn't find the screen.

So this is likely the work around for pre 2001 cars. I guess sd and autos can live together after all!

Yes you just make sure the "transmission DTC fault max pressure enablers" for MAF and airflow are set to "NO" PO103, PO102 & PO101 in EFIlive.

This is just an issue with 98s, not pre-01.

What is the vac mod? How do I do it and why do I want to exactly?
Do you run your 4l80 thru computer control cable or full manual??

And my tune maybe cause it was segmented 2002 upgraded f body OS blended with 4l80 has the trans dtc showing line pressure so will just disable them to be sure.

vacuum mod to control line pressure to the 4l80e. 100 bux...pretty easy install. Its what the th400 used to control line pressure. You cruise with high vacuum and get low pressure....hit the gas ...manifold vacuum goes down....line pressure goes up.....easy Mine is pcm controlled shifts with the vac mod.

I didn't want to spend the $100 when the pcm does it for free.

Default Vac mod

My Rossler (stage 3) 4L60 also has that vac mod built into it!The only thing my tunner did when tunning my 02 35th LE APS Speed density was to raise my shift points alittle because i didnt like how soon the PCM was shifting me into drive and overdrive when driveing normal and made it feel like it was chugging along LOL(Overdrive) I love it now !
