12 psi, I guess for a about a year I have been F/I but have only had the 317 heads on for about 2 months. Only 8-10 psi before the heads.

I never got any numbers out of mine before I pulled the motor for my TSP 370 that will go in over the winter, but I was running 8psi on a T70 stock long block (other than springs and pushrods) while we played with it. Saw 12psi a couple times and never had any issue. We were being very safe with timing and fuel tho, thats obviously the key! Go for it!

Sorry but getting input on these questions shouldn't affect your decision. You can blow up a stock motor in stock trim if you drive wrong. Or it can last 250k miles.

Nice, this is exactly what I've been tossing around the idea of doing. Run it on the stock block for a year or two and save up for a built block.

My buddy made 500rwhp/500ft-lbs at 8.5-8.75psi with a 78mm turbo on an STS kit. Bone stock motor. Only thing they changed was to a 918 valve-spring and pushrods cause the stock springs were letting the valves float.

That was through a Ford AOD trans(no lock-up) and a 12-bolt.

Sell the ls1 longblock, buy two 5.3 longblocks and you have a spare. Throw in a z06 cam/springs/pushrods, and let it eat. Should be good 550rwhp or less for quite a while. Mine is just over 550rwhp through an auto and has been taking a hard beating this year in my car and maxxmitchell's car before mine, 140k mile junkyard longblock.

The biggest hands down way to make it survive is a GOOD tune.
