Default Ebay kit downpipe problems help

I have the ebay kit/PTK and i have about everything on and was trying to connect the DP that goes thru past the motor mount to the pipe off of the turbo. Both ends are disconnected and i can get them lined up. Then the problems come. I have a 3" v-band i'm trying to put on there but the flanges on the pipe are to thick to allow the v-band to go over it. Anyone else have this problem?

Thanks
Bill

Have you gotten solid motor mounts yet? They give you alot more room and you need them anyway.

Yes room isn't the problem. The thickness of the two flanges together are.

Once the mounts are in there it will change the angle of the down pipe. Do you have any pics I can look at? I have the ebay kit also. Actually I have my build thread like 2 posts down from this one, and I posted a **** ton of pics.

No have you bolted those two pipes together?

turbo outlet flange is .185 down pipe to turbo is .200 that makes .385

downpipe from turbo on other end is .203 and downpipe thru kmember is .236 which makes .439

the v-bands will not fit around the flanges without offsetting one. I have a 3" v-band. I might try to go to a 3.5".

OH! Youre talking about the pipe that is kind of like a U-shape and bolting it to the one that goes over the K-member? My flanges match up ok when I put them together but the v-bands they give you blow donkey dick.

Well the v-bands are .200 in the center that i bought and the ones that came with the kit are .340 so i need to find some new v-bands. Don't order from siliconeintakes.

I dunno, Im beginning to think the flanges they put on this kit arent standard. Worse case scenario, I take a grinder to the flanges to then them out a little. Might be worth a few mins of my time compared to like 20$ per clamp.

i'm thinking about that but i would have to grind away almost have and i don't want to create a weak point in the system. Next time I make my own kit!

There is no standard in V-bands. Your best bet is to buy the clamps with the flanges, though that is obviously not always possible.

This can definitely be a pain to get figured out.

I used the silicone intakes vbands and I didn't have a problem. IIRC, I put the portion of the bolt where you are talking about since it was thinner. I know it was a pain in the *** to tighten them all. LMK if that is right and if not I'll look tomorrow.

the v-band that i bought from them is to small in the center. the widest part of where the flanges sit is .2 and the 2.5" that came with the kit are .335 in the center so i am trying to clamp a piece that is .435 thick with a .200 clamp

I had the same problem, think I used obx clamp on that spot . I ended up with a bunch of left over clamps, every company seems to make them a little different. Extremedime why did you have to use solid mounts. I used my stockers no problems.
