Default Should I run dual 38mm or 44mm wastegates.

I had a past thread about what to do for my turbo setup because I like to do drag racing and road racing. Road racing I want to run absolute minimum boost 3.5 psi.

I'm going to do dual wastegates, so running 3.5 psi with a ls2, ported heads, 76mm turbo. Would the Tial 38mm wastegates be enough? Despite the amount of money that I've put into this car, i'm still being a cheap ***.

Oh for what it's worth the waste gates will be positioned 'well' in terms of being on the outer edge of a 90 curve.

3.5 psi is pretty low. I would just do the 44's to be safe and not have to buy them twice unless you can get a smoking deal on a pair of 38's used. Atleast you wont take a beating on the 38's if you have to resell them.

Honestly the 38s would be more than enough...you can go with the 44s but I think its complete over kill and the turbo isnt that big to warant the use of the larger gates.

+1 if you are running duals you should be okay sorry I missed it are you running a twin set-up or a big single? MM has dual 38's on his set-up if I am not mistaken.

twin 38 tials are cheaper than a single 44 tial. ITs almost like running a 50mm WG.

I'm no expert, I'm a cabinet guy, but wouldn't it be more than plenty running the 38's. 76mm worth of gate seems to be enormous for anything under 900 rwhp.

CZWA-I'm interested in similar goals, I'm a conversion too, but i'm mounting twins up by the valve covers with the IC on top of the motor for minimal plumbing and instant throttle response. I'll be using the 38's with the 3 lbs spring at first.

I spoke to Louis @ LG about this same thing and he suggested the Tial 38's. 44's would be overkill IMO under 402 ci

Thanks for the opinions, still haven't made up my mind haha.

Here's the merge pipe, i've yet to buy wastegates so progress is waiting on my decision, I have some time to think though cause i'm working on the viper differential going in.

I think i might go with dual Tial 38mm MV-S wastegates. 4.3 Psi is the lowest those will go, but i'll be ok with that.

Depending on where you reference your wastegate signal from the boost may end up being higher or lower than that 4.3psi. Reference them right off the turbo and put your boost gauge in to the manifold and you will notice a pressure drop due to your intercooler and piping losses. Should put you in the mid 3psi range.

Quick Reply: Should I run dual 38mm or 44mm wastegates.
