Real world spool times of the BorgWarner S400's
I want real info on went the Borg warner S400 preferably S475 or S480 spool.
I have been searching numerous forums and I have not came up with any answers beyond billy bob saying it should spool at XXXX RPM. If possible please show a dyno graph with logged boost.
Please state you cubic inches as well as the exhaust housing setup. EX: t6-1.10 a/r and so forth.
Thank you guys.

im not sure bout on the street, but on my 385 ltx and the 1.32ar i can leave at pretty much whatever my stall will allow with a tbrake and 2step. now ive driven it a couple of times on the steet and it didnt seem to bad. prolly wouldnt be the best with a 6 speed tho! auto wouldnt be too bad!

RPM really isn't the best way to measure spool, time or wheel speed gives a much better picture. I reach 15 psi at 5200 rpms due to converter flash, but it could take me 5 seconds or 1 second to get there and who knows what rpm would be full boost on a manual trans car.
rear mounted 1.25ar/T4 80mm 87mm turbine wheel. 370 cubes
And some real world data as requested. X axis is time Y axis is KPA

5.3l with a 83mm turbine wheel and a 1.1 T6 came on full well before 4400, could be foot braked to 10psi.
5.7 with a 96mm turbine wheel would be full on by 4400rpm.
6l with a 83mm turbine wheel 1.1 a/r full on before 3800.
All with LS6 cams BTW
Tune has a lot to do with it too, as a MAF tune can really hurt you coming into boost. Being able to stay aggressive with AFR and timing coming into boost helps a lot.

S480, 83mm turbine, 1.10 a/r, 347 LS1, from a standing stomp (idle), 10psi by about 4200. But if I roll off the stop to say 10 MPH and then stomp it, getting the turbo up to speed before hammering it, 5psi before 3000 and 10 shortly after. I can break boost it to about 7psi and 3000 rpm with a fairly tight 4l80 and 10.5" converter in my truck. I LOVE this turbo! SO far it's my favorite on my truck, and I've had a few,
I had a S475 with 96mm 1.36 a/r with a quick spool valve before and the 80 I have now it WAY more responsive without the quick spool valve then the 75 was with the valve blocked open. Almost as fast as the 75 with the quick spool valve closed.

Thank you guys for alot of info. I realize asking what RPM will it spool is not universal to all cars, but with enough information ( like you guys have replied with ) will help give me and others a good idea of what similar combos will perform like.
I know it is not set in stone but alot of great info so far for sure!
