I tried running no IC on my rx7 at first, 5.3 tc78 setup, on only 8lbs iats were 200 degrees, put on an IC, dropped to below 100 degrees instantly on 8lbs.

Turbo's must raise IAT's? I don't see anywhere near 200 degree temps with my supercharger/meth

ok i have high comp. 10.5-1 with 18 psi and dont get over 120deg ever.. most of the time my intake will frost up on E85...
what LS1 can you run on the dyno and cool your beer on the intake!!!! my E85 blow thru you can....

Any compressor heats air, turbo style compressors are about the most efficient though.

Obviously the meth is cooling your intake charge, and temperature will massively depend on boost pressure and comrpessor efficiency

Likewise...and if it ever does come here, it'll cost far more than normal petrol

Although back to the original question. I dont think E85 would offer the same cooling potential as using methanol would

Yep that intake design helps A LOT with the cooling.

Yes I was running e85 and obviously no meth. With meth it would've been a lot lower.

Hey guys I'm new here. I'm about to do the same thing on my '99 Mustang. Currently has an intercooler making 16psi on E85. But am removing the intercooler to see if the E85 can withstand it being non-intercooled. I can drop 100 lbs of parts and ice water, sell off the intercooler, and make more boost. Sounds like a win-win.

E85 will cool the combustion chamber, but with no IC you are still forcing warm/hot air inside the motor.

I would like to see some results of E85, no I/C, but adding meth. You could probably set this type of system up with a RPM based meth kit, too. Anytime the motor is over 3500 RPM the meth would kick in and lower the IAT's.

Meth (CH4O) and ethanol (C2H6O) are basically the same thing (chemically) but ethanol has 2 more hydrogen and 1 more carbon atoms. If you run E85 there is little need to run meth.

You may see a gain on a single pull with E85 and no IC, but unless it's a track car and it gets time to rest and ice down between pulls it wouldn't be too fun on the street.

I already buy a drum of pure E100 and blend it with 93 octane myself to get exactly E85 everytime. I don't trust the gas stations to get it exact.

With the E85, it shouldn't need a hit of methanol spray. But that would be a nice bonus. Or a shot of giggle gas.

Quick Reply: Anyone running higher boost, E85, and no intercooler?
