Default Thinking about side dump...in the front...

The downpipe on this ebay kit is pissing me off to no end. Im thinking about dumping my DP off to the side, in front of the driver side wheel. Obviously not facing the tire but with a turn down setup. Im guessing this will be loud as **** but how loud? Is it possible to run some kind of resonator or muffler before it? There will be a bout 10 inches of pipe straight down off the turbo then about 16 inches off to the side. I have an SLP loudmouth muffler that i can probably fit but I dont want to create too much back pressure so Im kind of at a loss on this one. Suggestions?

Its not just the downpipe. Getting one fabricated wont fix anything because Im limited on the space to run it.

Dynomax Bullet. I would run the biggest you can fit. Either 3" inlet/outlet, 3 1/2" inlet/outlet, or 4" inlet/outlet. They are 16.5 overall length, but you can cut them down a couple inches at least by trimming the ends.

I have the eBay kit and did EXACTLY what you are asking about. It wasn't that loud compared to my open headers I used to have, but at a red light, my eyes were burning from the fumes. So noise won't be your problem, it will be the smell of the exhaust filling up in the car (poisonous as well) I only had it like that for a few weeks before it pissed me off too much lol

Lol, im gonna try it out on Friday and see if the sound is unbearable or not. If it is, I think i can fit a Borla XS muffler.

Do you have any clips of your car, killer?

No. I blew up the stock motor shortly after when my cheap wastegate got stuck. Boosted to like 20psi... It was fun for that minute though

That is exactly how I wanted my downpipes routed. My builder decided as short of a run that is, it won't lose enough heat before dumping out. He was afraid of the heat melting the plastic and bubbling paint. I think the rule of thumb is exhaust loses 20 degrees per foot?

The look of the exhaust dumping up front like that is really cool though!!!!

have you got any pics of underneath your car? I'm wondering if you have any room to dump the exhaust further back under your car...

can you get pic of the under side of the engine area? You may have more room then you think on the drivers side.

Schoenfeld sells a straight thru 3 or 3.5 inch muffler in 6 or 9 inch length for $16 and $25
I have the 3" in 6" length and the tone is PERFECTION
It has an aggressive sound but not loud enough to upset neighbors.not even close. It sounds like a stocker with aftermarket mufflers. Compared to my na 454 bbc with flowmasters, this is a lot quieter and mellowe sounding. Ill post a vid and pic later

Awesome! What turbo are you running?

I was also talking to Rob @ Modular, and he said its possible to put a Y-pipe on the DP and run like 2 2" pipes under the k member, which would help out a ton!
