Default Turbo vs heads

OK Guys I'm on a budgit and I realise I can either finish my engine with all the good parts in it and have weeker flowing heads or I have to hold my project off to next year.
I know that the more your motor makes the better and more HP you get with boost but this is my question...
Can you make good power like 700 whp on just ok heads... It is forced induction right?!? wont it just push the air through? So isnt putting big money into heads just a nice thing to do not manitory?

My set up is a 383 lt1 Diamond 4.030 Bore/3.750 stroke/6.00 rod -18cc dish 9-1 comp pistons my cam specs are 228/232 560/560+115 @ 1.6 rocker ratio I'm using a turbonetics 76mm turbo with a .81 ar. "yes I know the AR is a bit small but I think it will still work.

Can I get away with for this first year stock heads or stage 2 port heads? then next year use AFR's? once again the goal is 700whp

from what I understand, you'll just have to push a higher boost level to achieve the same hp .

I say youre good to go.

Being this is a FI setup I'm pretty sure you can get by with just "ok" heads for a while. N/A is a different story though. Good Luck

Probably won't hit 700rwhp with stock heads, or even mildly ported heads.

You can definitely hit it with heavily ported stock castings (what you call a stage 2) or aftermarket heads (such as ported AFR's).

**Note** It will not hurt your engine to run it with stock heads... you will just have to settle with less power for now.

Those heads will support 700rwhp. What type of turbo kit is it (as the design will determine if you reach your goals)?

I don't see why you can't hit that goal with mildly ported stock castings.

This was done with a smaller cam than yours and it was done with a Procharger on 14 psi. With yours having a healthier cam and using a turbo you don't have the parasitic loss of a blower, it can be possible on stock castings.

There is a difference between mild portwork and cnc'd castings. Golen's cnc castings can be considered "stage 2" which i think will get the power he wants. Mildly ported heads are like gasket matched ports... nothing else. FYI, Golen made 700flywheel... probably closer to 600-625rwhp depending on the tranny used. He would need another 75-100rwhp... and like you said, a little better cam and the fact that the 76mm turbo probably puts out more air then the SC (without the parasitic loss too), the goal is definitely attainable.
