Default LS1 intake vs LS6 intake for FI

ok so i was lied to i think, i was told my intake is a ls6 but the part number on it 12560688 seems to say its a ls1, it also has a rubber plug behind the throttle body where i was told a ls6 will be plastic. any way my question is on a turbo set up thats only shooting for 550 whp is a LS6 intake a cost effective upgrade? i know in a NA car any intake upgrade is a help but with forced induction i have to wonder if its as big of a deal, any information on this guys?

hmmm i think i found the answer is no, i found this about the FAST intake.

Made from space-age polymer composite material, these FAST LSX multi-piece component intake manifolds show a 20 hp increase on the GM LS1 engine and a 15 hp increase on the GM Corvette LS6 engine, with no loss of drivability or low-rpm torque.

so if thats true then the LS6 is only worth 5 hp over the LS1 , they are asking 800+ for these things? they must be retarded 20 hp for 800 bucks!! lol, and the guys on ebay are asking 300+ for ls6 intakes again crazy for only a couple HP. i think i will indeed stay with my ls1 intake and just turn the boost up as needed lol.

sorry for the wasted thread.

You'll make more hp at the same boost level with an ls6 intake. The thing is I haven't ever seen a true before and after test. I'm in the same boat as you, have an ls1 intake currently but don't know if I can justify the ls6 intake for $300+, even if it does net me 15+ rwhp. On my car I saw 20rwhp with one degree of timing increase - actually TUNING for the methanol injection that's on my car would be cheaper and easier than swapping intakes for the same increase.

the more air you get in and out of the motor the more hp you will make ie lower boost levels and more hp. the ls1 may be ok for stock head and cam cars, but if you ever want to go to a higher hp level your gonna want more than a ls1 intake. bare minimum is ls6 most high hp fi guys go with a carb style intake with a elbow

yeah for now im pretty much staying stock cam and heads ect, i do have ls6 valve springs and ARP head and rod bolts, i plan on getting tuned to between 500 and 550 whp and letting it alone after that for a while, i suspect i should hit those numbers with some where between 8 psi and 12 psi, i am currently on 8 psi and a basic street tune.

I also agree that it would make more power at a lower PSI but its free to turn up the boost **** a half a pound to make up the difference

For your power goals, I would just stick with the LS1 and save the money.
