Default Turbo manifold with v-band question

I see people who have turbo headers with v-bands that connect turbo manifolds and crossover pipe. How do thees v band flanges do for holding up all the weight of the turbo and hotside tubing? I know most people are using 1/2 thick truck flanges to meet the manifold and the cross over but looking at these vband flanges they are pretty thin. Anyones thoughts? I have an after market set of truck manifolds and im about to build my next turbo kit but id really rather cut the 3 bolt flanges off the headers and weld v-bands on because they look alot cleaner and pain free for removing cross over.

you really need to know what you are doing to weld cast iron to stainless steel

i heard that you need to preheat the metal before you start welding

at that point holding the weight it whether vband or flange will make no difference, now the kicker is the steel it's self mostly at the point of the primaries will have a greater tenancy to crack with the combination of weight and heat cycles. which is why a lot of people support there turbos if using stainless headers and a heavy turbo.

I would imagine a turbo timer would help with heat cycling right?

With a proeprly designed and fabricated system, there should be NO weight or loads on any V-bands or similar joints.

Bracket the system up properly, or dont do it at all.

I'm using truck manifolds with v-bands welded on but my turbo is supported.
I'd never hang a turbo with no support.
