Default need some suggestions on a 408 FI build

I am looking to order the rotating assembly for my 408 build and had a few questions. I am looking to run a d1 at about 10-16#'s. I was wondering about heads? L92/LS3's? 243's? I am wanting to run a GM head to keep cost down for now. I will later upgrade to different heads but would like to stay in budget. I want to be around 9.3-9.8-1 to keep driveability while not in boost. Also some cam recommendations would be nice. I have been looking at a few vendors cams but am also getting in contact with a few people to spec one out for me.

Thanks Bill

The LS7 heads require 4.125 bore so you can take these off your list quickly with a 408. A set of L92 heads would be a great choice but you will also need an intake and dished pistons to use. If you get a ported set, you likely won't need to replace in the future unless you go over 15 or so lbs boost. I would look at a ported 317 casting as an alternate, especially if you already have a good intake. These are similar to 243 with a larger combustion chamber.

Lastly, you might want to consider an F1 of F1A for a 408 - might be pushing a D1 very hard.

I was thinking on the F1 but i don't think it will get pushed over 10#'s all that much.

I have a set of 317's here but wasn't sure about using them. I plan on running Wiseco dished piston's.
