Default Question about a turbo ls1 on ebay

My friend is looking at this turbo 98 ls1 on EBAy
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1998-...item20b05090fe
Does anyone know any history on this car, if this is in fact a good deal, and what the problem could be that is keeping it from making boost past 70 MPH.
Thanks
Justin

Maybe it's just me....but I would not touch the car. it sounds like an ebay-turbo car. 400hp, 580tq....seems the turbo should be at least a t70. Boost loss past 70mph?? Weird. Unless the turbine/housing is too small and it's choking up?? Bottom line....it sounds like your friend would be buying someone else's headache that was assembled hap-hazardly. Just my $.02.

Anyone else care to chime in?

It is the ebay PTK turbo kit with a cheap turbo. If you upgrade the turbo the car would run alot better. If he can get it for cheap and can get over to check it out then with a little TLC it could be nice.

man you guys outside the rust belt are spoiled. i know 98 anythings are worth less but even 7 k for a workable turbo z28 isn't that bad. if you could pick it up for 5000 and fix all the cheap outs. i say go for it.

TQ numbers r retardedly wrong, T61 EBAY turbo cant do that lol.. The car looks in good condition.. i'd say if u can get a good price, and see it; as ppl have said - buy it, but don't expect it to be a smooth process, nothing ever is with modifications

I've seen the car run and he had a hard time breaking into the 13's. I think he ran 13.7's around 110 mph.

Sounds like driver error. That small turbo is choking that LS in the upper RPM so it will feel like a snail up top.

The car is an auto, not much to error on. The install looks solid though.

At 110 that is a mid 12 second MPH. I guess the sixty sucks which leads me to believe that either he can't drive or suspension isn't set up.

Just because it's a a4 doesn't mean that you know how to drive.

A better turbo will open that kit up. Just check the build threads on here.

The flowmaster muffler Could be causing the boost to fall off because of back pressure.
