Default MasterPower & Rob @Modular are the man

Ok guys so check this out. I have a Masterpower T70 that I was using for my turbo build. I had about 160 miles on it when I was having boost issues. I pulled off the filter and came to find the turbo was no longer spinning(Im so eloquent with my words, I know). Further investigation showed the inner fins of the exhaust turbine were chipped and broken. I call up Rob he gets me squared away with where to send it immediately.

Fast forward...
Southeast Power(handles warranty work for MasterPower) calls me on Monday and said they just received my turbo and was wondering whats going on with it. I told them simply "Its not spinning" lol. Today I get a lengthy email with pictures saying that some foreign material has entered the turbo and caused chaos and it will NOT be covered under warranty. Heres the exhaust turbine:

At this point Im writing a not so nice email back, CCing multiple people and then I go **** Im calling Rob @ Modular up and letting him know whats going on. He tells me that he had already heard about it but he said he had good news. They are replacing the turbine wheel and resurfacing the exhaust housing and sending it back to me....for freeeee. Im not sure what could have caused it, Im not a turbo expert. My engine is running fine so lets hope this was just something that happened by chance.

Its good to see a company in this day and age still take care of their customer and Rob @ Modular has been the best sponsor throughout my entire build and has earned my business for life.

rob is the man. When I had issues with my T70 back about 4 years ago now, I called him, and talked to him, he helped me diagnose what was going on. Turned out to be the filter was restricting the t70 so much I couldnt get my desired boost.

I had my welder check out the piping and he said it all seemed fine. He didnt see any excess slag anywhere. I would imagine if it was a foreign object it would have damaged more than just the first half of the turbine ya know? No worries though, regardless of what occured Im sure it wont happen again.

Only half the turbine is damaged and in the same spot on every fin? I would imagine the whole turbine would be damaged at different intervals if something went through it

Im not a turbo expert by any means, Im just saying.

It makes me think the "material" was lodged in the opening in the exhaust housing. Sticking through and contacting the exhaust wheel, but I have saw a few just like that. No doubt that exhaust wheel had something go through it. A quick search and you will find some that look similar.

you didnt lose a chunk of engine. your lost a chunk of your ebay kit /slag into that turbo . in all honesty its the mfg of your turbo setup's fault/ your fault for purchasing such a kit. I've seen this as an issue mulitple times on supras using ebay manifolds.
