Same exact think I'm doing with my '97 SS.

If stock, cam only LS3 go D1.

If filled with expensive parts and willing to run more boost, F1. The F1 is a lot louder if that matters.

The twin IC's look a lot easier to install.

i would like to forged my motor. but the thing is that its bigger then ls1 and revs higher. the d1sc rating is 62,000 rpms and the f1a is 74,000 rpms.

also i would def be doing a front mount intercooler.

I have seen a 408 with a D-1SC made 16 psi of boost, however, the F-1A is more efficient with you're pushing a D-1SC for all it's worth. It sounds like the D-1SC will do everything you're looking to do, for now. It depends on your future plans. Bob

im with Bob..It comes down to how much power you are looking to make today...and then tomorrow..But in my opinion the d1 would proly be more than enough..

I doubt that. I think the only thing that gets the air hot is the increase in temperature do the the increase in pressure (PV=nRT). I don't see how the speed of the blower would have more than a negligible effect on the incoming air...

I've made over 800RWHP with a D1 through an automatic transmission and the twin intercoolers......it was pushing 22#s. More than enough for a street car.

Hey Bob what if its an lsx block but has the same deck height as an ls3? I know this is not the best way to check but i would imagine it would be the same.

I had very similar goals, it be easier on parts with a f1a, belt slip would be less of an issue since F series blowers have a 5.40 ratio and it would use a bigger pulley for the same boost.
and since you mentioned street racing, a d1 would be your safest choice if local enforcement is a factor too, cant hide a f1a from the car sitting next to you at a light.

whatever your choice get a good intercooler, so you can drive a lot harder and for longer period of time.

I say f1a, enclosed bypass valve ftw!
