Default Boost options for 404 ls2.

I have a 404 ls2 that is fully forged.
My builder mentioned something about having to do some modifications if i want to go with bigger boost. Im not exactly sure how much he meant exactly by bigger boost.

My only real concern is that it is a higher compression engine. I have 11.5 CR on stock ls1 heads. It has -2cc pistons.

Assuming i get some heads to lower the compession and a nice boost cam, How much boost do you think i can use safely and what kind of power can I make?

I also feel that the bigger motor is almost a waste for boost because people make a lot of power with smaller blocks. I feel like i am gonna be using extra gas mileage and not getting much benefit. Bigger engine probably would spool a bigger turbo better.

Any

11.5:1 is pretty high for a boosted application. On pump gas, I would not push more than 4 or 5 pounds of boost. With a heavy dose of methanol, 6 or 7.

If you want to stay stock heads put some 317s on there with a normal thickness gasket it will take your compression down to 10.3:1 or a touch less depending on the gasket thickness. Then with meth you can run closer to the 10 psi range.

ring gap and what kind of rings may come into play also if boosting/spraying pretty big.

I would talk with Billy about it personally but these guys are right your gonna wanna run different heads with bigger combustion chambers to bring the compression down for boost. I'm sure you'd be able to run 10lbs no problem and on that motor that would be some serious power.

Gas mileage?! its all about power son, more cubes will getcha more power, if your not looking to go aftermarket for heads do as stated above and get down around 10.3-1 and definatly run meth, (cheap insurance). keep in mind boost is like crack! really addictive, your going to want more really quick so you might want to think about a set of aftermarket heads with a nice thick deck to get your compression down and not lift then you can boost the hell out of it.
