Default Cheapie turbo build: need pistons and rods

I just got ahold of a 1994 lt1 formula for 600 bucks and the plan is to build a cheapie turbo car out of it. Just like the mod Noyzee did in the nitrous section.

It will be gutted of A/C and anything we don't need. I have the ls1 block from my camaro and a stock stroke ls1 crank. I got a set of 853's laying around. I have a OFI hotside thats still brand new never used that will go on the car.

Just like the title says, I need a set of pistons and rods. I don't want to put a stock set in and I am not going to put high dollar stuff in this motor. Who has a good price for some rods and pistons for an ls1. Looking to spend maybe a grand on them. I will post pics of this build as I go.

Your best bet is to troll the Classifieds section for rods and pistons if you are on a budget.

Actually he asks specifically for LS1 rods and pistons as he stated above. I responded to his request.

Add LS9 head gaskets and you're set.

Only cheap for those who already have a LS2 cam sprocket, timing cover, and cam sensor.

I have some 4.00" Wiseco thermal coated turbo dish pistons with only a few dyno runs on them. They were in a 6.0 iron block. I believe the compression was around 8.5.

You can't put 4" pistons into a LS1 block unless you sleeve it...

I could, but the money I am going to spend on getting one is just as equal as what I am trying to do. I also have the forged pistons and rods to boot. I already have heads, crank, and block.

As far as the speed thing. This is just a throw together. However fast it goes is how fast it goes. We have no set goal.
