Default rear gear ratio

What an optimum rear gear ratio for my 12bolt? currently have 373 but for my future build of a tt 408 (tc76s) goal with the car (3800ish lbs) is to be deep 9s in the 1/4 and still be a blast to drive on good days and wknds, will be auto trans, would like an a4.

Agreed. You have to figure out how high you want to spin your RPM's thru the traps. For instance, at 153 mph (on the slip) and a 28" tire, I go thru the traps at almost 7400 RPM with 3.55 gears. Remember that trap speed is not actual speed when you cross the line. It's an average of the last so many feet (cant remember the exact number of feet) so it will throw off calculator values when figuring out converter slip. I wish I could run a 3.23 or even a 3.08. I hate spinning it that high.

I currently have 3.54 thats lowest numerical you can go in dana 60. They seem fine. I an not super worried about going thru traps in 3rd ,if go thru in overdrive not the end of the world. I may run 28 tires at some point in the future. I wouldn't want to spin my engiune higher than 7000 max and would likely feel better keeping to 6500.

How much time really gets lost making that shift to overdrive?
