Default Need Help w/ turbo.Single 76 w/102 wheel?

Ok guys, I have been told this turbo will not flow/support what I am looking for. unusual specs so any insite would be greatly appreciated......

looks to me as a garret gt/precision combination.

compressor measures : 76.64mm / 102.51mm (102mm?)
exhaust measures : 83.90mm / 92.94mm w/ .96 a/r housing.

dual ball bearing

center section of turbo has part # 408752

compressor housing has 76X engraved on outlet

looks to me like a modified pt76

engine: lsx forged 9.1:1 cr , 408ci, l92 heads (cnc'd & such) 1.8 rockers,102mm lsxr fast intake combo w/ supporting fuel system to 1400hp.

looking to make 900-1000hp
was told this turbo wouldn't push enuf air for this engine up top. would run out in the high 5 low 6k rpm

should I keep this turbo and will it give me my hp goal/ & be streetable or should I go w/ twin 62-1 or twin 67's like the tech @ turbonetics told me to do?

thanks for the help/suggestions in advance !!!!

The .96 a/r is going to hold you back with the 408. You will probably come just shy or hit the 900hp mark.

You can either get something between 1.01 and 1.15? a/r and save some money since you have the turbo or those twins

Looking to have pretty quick spool and still make power up to 6600-7000rpm's
so I guess going with a pair of 67's with a 81-96ar would be better for my application?

Still would like to now what the turbo I have listed in o.p. is comparable to.
(regarding the specs....102mm exducer?)

Twins will "lag less", but typically never "out spool" a single turbo. Spool is what you get going from 0vac to 1psi, lag is the time it takes to go from 1psi to full boost.

a T76 is a BIT small for huge power goals such as you are looking for, but there have been plenty of people in the 8's with that turbo in mostly full weight cars. I would toss on a really big T4 exhaust housing and cross my fingers, and go bigger if i thought I could deal with the lag.

S476+ turbos are pretty cheap anymore, and will probably make 100whp more than that T76 would. (I bet you wouldnt even spend a dime after selling that turbo and buying the BW)

i meant lag... sorry, nitrous guy converting to turbo here.....

big exhaust housing......1.05...1.32.... how big we talkin?

this is a full trim street car so don't want to have too much lag. I can settle for 800-900 hp.

ditch it? and how much should i sell it for? i thought $750 was reasonable.

thanks for the help, i'm a newb to turbos.

For a 408 twins would be much better suited. Single of that size would be a little small if you plan to make 1000hp or so. The BW units will work as a single though since they use extremely large turbine sides that flow very well.
