Default New Bumper Mounted Air to Water

So here is my new bumper mounted air to water intercooler setup for my YSi.

Here is the parts list:

Burkhart Supplied DIY Bumper kit
Vortech Prototype 1600 CFM Intercooler
Vortech BV57 Bypass Valve
Chisled Ice Tank w/ Rule Pump
3" Piping
Snow Stage 3 Meth Kit

Here are some pics of the finished project. I just need to run some water lines and mount the tank.

That's awesome! Where might you put the ice tank? I also didn't realize the burkhart piece fit our birds, cool. Oh yeah, and no need to cut up the front bumper!!!

The Burkhart actually doesn't fit the birds. I bought one from him and it didnt fit.

So he sold me just the pieces un welded and I welded them together to fit under the fascia of a Formula Front end.

I am mounting the ice tank on the center hump behind the back seat. Its getting powder coated satin black right now.

I mounted it where the AC condenser used to be. Sorry I dont have a pic. The heat exchanger I used was from CX Racing and it actually clipped right it to the mount for the AC on the radiator. Turned out real slick.

Looks nice. We have the LT1 TA support but not the Bird.

Is that a Vortech IC?

Thanks, It is a Voretch Intercooler. Its a new HO series they are working with. I think the only applictaion they use it on right now is there 05 & newer mustangs.

They sent me a core to try with the YSi. I am using two of one of the side tanks off there mustang set up.

I love the compact size and that it is a dual pass core assembly.

What were you running for an IC before doing this?

Where did you get the tubing? Looks clean.

Any updates or have you finished the project?

I was running a 4" core air to air. There was too much of a boost drop. Also I was not getting proper cooling of it with the Firebird front nose. The pipes are from CX Racing and the silicone is from CX and siliconehose.com.

The car should be running by next weekend. As long as I get some time to work on it.

thats a pretty slick setup there. I am debating an upgrade to the ysi, or an f1c, and do something like this. Do you have it up and running yet, j/w what the IATs you see with that thing.
