Default What IAT sensor?

I'm wondering what most of you guys are using for a IAT sensor. I'm keeping a 3" charge tube, so I need to source one that I can thread in to the side of it. Any ideas? I just don't care for the way the factory ls1 style has to push into a grommet. Something tells me that it will just pop out when under boost.

Thanks for the help.

use a sensor from a GMC syclone. uses a 3/8 NPT fitting. can buy the weld in fittings from summit, etc.

I still run the factory GM IAT sensor in mine. Running 15#'s of boost and never had an issue with the sensor coming out. Granted mine is in my LT1, but it still uses a push in gromet like the LS1's.

I do have to replace mine every so often because I run meth injection and the meth slowly corrodes my sensor. But they are inexpensive to replace, and it still takes years of driving before they go bad.

I made a hole just barely big enough in the charge pipe for the sensor and grommet, then used silicon to seal it. Ive had no issues.

Thanks....just picked one up. Seems the best way to go, without fear of future "issues".

Thanks again.

You can also pick up a steel pipe fitting from Menards/Home Depot and cut it down to weld it in the pipe. Saves shipping charges from Summit/Jegs and is only a buck or two.

Ideally you run the stocker for that pcm code.
They have a response curve that's in the cal.
That said, several sensors have the same curve.
IIRC it's listed in some of the factory manuals.
Or you have to view the cal table for your sensor and find an alt threaded unit that has the same cal. That's expensive with OBDII vehicles and DIY.
Ex. LT5 and L98 use different sensors but have the same cal table.
LT5 uses open element and L98 uses CTS solid style.
Majority just throw whatever in that is easy to install and tune around it.
