Default Trickflow Vs. AFR heads for FI?

i noticed most of the FI guys are using AFR heads, and most of the NA guys are using Trickflow heads. just wondering why? do the afr's seal better or have a thicker deck surface? tried a search but didn't get much.

agreed, its all about what YOU are trying to build, ive seen plenty of both. Check the dyno section for head specific threads or call a sponsor who sells um both and ask, tony mamo ports those AFRs all day.

edit: I just scrolled thru the first page and not even 10 threads down jeremym has twin70's on his 441 Trick flow heads thread going and 98cobrakiller has his 416 twin 70's AFR heads thread going too...

i know that their are a lot of people running TFS on if FI but it seems that most people are running AFR. i was just wondering if their is a reason for this? i am partial to TFS, but i wasn't sure if their was something i didn't know about the AFR.

I am torn right now between TFS 235 and AFR 225 for my LS2 with TVS 2300. Shuld push 10 -12lbs. Either doesnt seem like a bad choice.

Agreed...alot are running GM 6.0 heads and now it seems like guys are
running TrickFlows. I rather run TrickFlows over AFR's even though the 6 liter
truck heads do very well and are cheap.

i think the tfs are a little bit cheaper. both are a aftermarket casting, both have thick decks.

AFR's reccomend a roller rocker, Trickflows require them.

AFR's are a 15 degree head, Trickflows are not

AFR's are 4 bolts per cyllinder, Trickflows are 4 bolts with the option for 6 bolts.

Both are great, I have TFS on my GTO and am putting AFR's on my LS3 Cobra.

TEA uses better components in there heads. They come with name brand parts and are built to order. Also I believe there port work flows higher CFM.

They are great guys and I have always had great results from there head work.

Price and if you get TEA to do more work on the heads. You will not go wrong with which ever one you go with. With what the unit you will be using I dont think you will be able to tell the diff in the end just my 2 cents.

Why?

As stated, the AFR is a direct factory replacement head. It changes no geometry and can use the stock rockers without issue. AFR's customer service is FAR superior to TFS/TEA. I've had to deal with issues with both brands. The difference was that AFR went above and beyond to make it right and presented NO fight on the matter.

Both seem to perform about the same. TFS does have the 6 bolt option though if you are building a 6 bolt block.

I agree I am using the T&D rocker shaft set up on my 402 build and love the set up and the power it helps with on the car. With the trick flow if you want to ever sell and going diff or bigger should be able to sell them faster due to the above reason.
