Default diesel turbo question

i'm thinking of turboing my car, its head and cam right now, i'm looking to go single turbo setup around 8 psi or so, question is i heard that i can can use a turbo off diesel trucks. turbo off a cummings dodge ram, ford f-350 powerstroke or a chevy duramax, is this true? if so what the best and the pro's and cons.
any help would be great, thanks,

All of the stock diesel turbos are to small. HX35's, IHI's, and GTP38's are tiny.
