Default 107,000 boosted miles comes to an end!

My daily driver Silverado SS finally gave up! 107,000 on the clock and the engine was installed at 27 miles when the truck was new. The factory lifters were re installed with only the drainback mod and a new Comp Cam with restricted 5/16 pushrods. The engine got a bit noisy coming home from Kentucky a few weeks back and finally the lifter let go when my guys were chasing parts.....

Ouch, Looks like you got all the life out of that lifter. Just lifter and cam damage or did it wreck other things? How much power was the engine making for its 107 K life?

It ran different power levels throught its life with most of its time spent between 12-15 psi which would produce 7-800 flywheel hp. I had a valet switch on it that cut the boost to 5psi that I used when I towed my trailer or valet parked it. I would see 20psi once in awhile for fun on the streets and a couple times on Power Tour. It ran 11.4X on 19 psi at 5500 pounds at a Silverado SS meet here in Michigan around 2006-2007 I think, the engine was installed in 2002.

It was originally a single 67mm turbo that I changed to a 72mm at about 40,000 miles. I overboosted the 67mm and snapped it in two.....

I built another engine for it around 2 years ago, just no time for install! The lifter kind of forced my hand.

It is holes in the side of the lifter retainer trays that lets the oil return to the pan faster.

Ouch! Same thing happened in a friend of mine's Magancharged truck awhile back. On the bright side, Im sure youve got a hookup or two in the engine building business, lol.
