I just bought a set of them...and yes I read the same thing but I'm still gonna run them...from what I read they dont do so well under extreme boost (20+psi)

It's hard to generalize as they have different alloy pistons. You may be hearing stories about the softer aluminum pistons which were not made for FI.The stronger material holds up a lot better to boost.

I'm using Probe in my build. When in doubt, call the manufacturer and ask them.

My 346 has mahle pistons in it. 3 years with 15 psi boost and over the last 8 months I have about 15 passes and a little dyno time on 23 psi (race fuel). No problems yet. About 4000 street miles as well, it gets beat on.

Mahle pistons are some of the best. There power packs are not 2618 and are not designed for FI and yeah don't buy them for that Job etc... But if you have some made for your application they are Very good they have the newest machines in the country. But with that said Weisco can build pistons that noone else can and do it cheaper and stronger for the same or better products usually. GL!

thanks for the replies guys, seems the general thought is, powerpak = no,

if they are 2618 its ok. But i could assume the same for all (most) pistons though couldnt i

only reason i ask is simple. Ive been trolling the for sale section waiting for the diamond in the rough, lol. I dont wanna miss a good opportunity, aside from not sure which size motor im building, i guess i will let my budget dictate that.

EDIT:

anyone ever heard much about DSS pistons, i know this is going to turn into a a "just buy some weisco or diamonds" thread, but hey, im just curious.

We have had very good results with Diamond pistons in many of our builds at the old shop, you should look into Diamond too. Bob

I'm running Mahle pistons in my truck, and can't find too much wrong with them. They started off as flat tops, and I machined a 12cc .050' dish in them(which made them really thin). Thousands of daily driven street miles, below zero start ups, towing trailers cross country, along with severe detonation while racing (due to a faulty MAP sensor)...
