Default how close to a reality are these goals.. knowledge and criticism welcome!

here are the the motor specs (in the process of building)

2004 LS1 block
-11cc dish 3.903 bore wiseco pistons (9.3ish to 1 cr)
eagle esp h-beam 6.125 rods
TSP ls6 heads 64cc
looks like i will be running va speed cam 23x/22x .61x"/.60x"
ls6 intake and TB will be ported.
full fuel system that will support 1000 hp+
built up 4l80e
yank stall in the 3200-3500 range.
3.46 gears..
tc78 1.15ar

the plan is to run 10-12psi on pump 91 octane
and 17-20psi on probably somethin like 110-118 octane.

i am hoping for 600+ on pump gas and 800ish on the good stuff.

i would really like the opinions of some of the more knowladgeable guys and welcome all criticism..

overall the hp isnt as important as the timeslips
now this is goin to be in a full weight GTO with a/c powersteering and all that.. will end up at about 3900#
i would like to see 10.70's - 10.90's on pump gas
and low 10s on the good stuff.

so i am ready for the reality check you guys are goin to give me and anything so lets make this interesting with some good info for everone to read!

You can run 10.7's with 560 rwhp in a full weight GTO. Atleast my friends stock bottom end LS1 GTO 6 speed has with 9lbs on a D1SC. 800 rwhp from a tc78 is a bit optimistic, I'd say it wont make much more power past 15 lbs of boost as you will be off the efficiency range of the compressor map.

front mount

what would be a good turbo in that $1500 range to meet my goals..

i dont want to set track times to high would rather blow them out the water and be happen than be let down ya know? i ran 11.4s with aboyt 480 rwhp on spray so i know 10s shouldnt be too hard...

All my sig times are on 93 octane. I'm planning on getting into the 9s on pump gas with my slightly smaller TC76. Oh yea, over 4200lbs with me in it.

i see people say the tc's cant do it but then there are poeple like you and a guy close to me here that run or ran them and haul ***.. there is a guy that got his 4900+ lbs truck in the low 10s with a tc76 on a .96a/r i think it could be done and there is always the race cover for it to pick up a lil extra if need be...

I would go with a slightly larger turbo. I think you can get there with the 78, but I think it will be easier with something a tad larger.

I think if you get the stall setup properly the difference in lag coming off the line will be negligable.

I know a Garret 47-88 or a larger T6 frame turbo will get you there but your will have packaging problems. I went with the TC76 for the smaller size and great capability. I'm not sure of my HP but on 15 lbs I lose traction in my 3900 lb TA with a 9" and a 6 speed. a TC76 will definately get you into the 10s provided you have a well thought out combo.

If your goal is 10.7 the Tc76-78 will get you there but if you plan on 800 rwhp it will be pushing the turbo really hard, as in right off the efficiency range of the compressor map and really high back pressure. A few people have ran 9's with tc76-78 but in a little bit lighter car. I think the TC turbos are great compact turbos that will out spool anything which makes an awesome street machine. I feel the PT76GTS or PT78GTS has a higher power potential. Is the 1.15 the biggest A/R housing you can get? Most people say the TC76-78 falls on it's face at 5000 rpm with a .96 a/r I would give forced inductions a call.

What about the old tried and true precision pt88 ? That's pretty compact compared to a gt47 size turbo.

I think that the PT88 would be perfect for those cubes. Will pull strong all the way to 7500 w/o a problem. 800 rwhp thru an auto will go low to bottom 9's at that weight. Buy it once and be done with it.
