Default methanol without a s/c or turbo practical ?

has anyone seen a setup using methanol injection without forced induction?
Can gains be achieved ? Is this practical? If yes, what precautions are necessary ? Any input / feedback is appreciated.

Thanks !

I've seen a couple N/A guys running methanol. It still cools the intake charge below ambient and because of the octane they still could run more timing without detonation. Instead of running the reference off boost they ran it off MAF voltage

what would you estimate the power gain if installed on a n/a LS-1 or set like mine in my profile signature ?

It would all depend on the tune. The more aggresive the tune the more you can pull outta her. What numbers did she put down in her current trim?

dyno not for 2-3 weeks & I'm estimating 420'sh +/- RWHP after
I get street tune + dyno tuned, what would you estimate for HP
gain on my n/a set (see my signature for current set-up) up by
adding a methanol injection with a good tune to support it?

I'm picking it would be similar results to running race gas, but it is adding potential for engine damage if tuned aggressivly and meth kit fails.

is there any type of automatic safety fall back option inherent in the Snow Kit if it fails (or runs empty) ? I'm in South Florida and heat can be a major factor almost year round I am considering the Snow Performance Stage 1 Boost Cooler N/A kit for octane enhancement and cooler intake charge.

wow - that Holden 383 with a TC78 sounds raw - very bad *** build man - congratulations I'm envious for sure - not many F-body;s around here putting down that much power (they;re very few an far between) - I would be surprised if snow performance doesn't have some type of safety feature built in if the water/methanol tanks runs dry or system fails? Looks like I've got some homework to do to familiarize myself with safety concerns like the one you mentioned which would obviously be a disaster.

Why not just spray it with nitrous?

Dont do it with nitrous. Because of system pressure. You need to run a fixed amount of fuel pressure with nitrous, this means you need a regulator and run a return style system. And all the parts of the system have to be stainless or they'll rot. This is much easier to do with fuel(C16,C12,etc) and a whole lot less expensive.

On NA apps, only if you have ultra high compression and trying to run the car on pump gas. We do it off MAF as well.

Dont do it because its hot outside. Thats a waste of money, time, tuning, etc. You wont pickup any power from it. meth is an octane improver.. with secondary benefit of cooler IAT.
