Question Precision or Turbonectics???

Are Precision turbos good, after talking to a customer service rep I was told that all there turbos larger than 88mm don't use ball bearing they use thrust bearing? I've heard when it comes to turbos you need to get one with ball bearings.

How do Precision turbos compare to Turbonectics??

Both are good and ball bearings are not necessary.

Why aren't ball bearings necessary, doesn't the ball bearing help with turbo life and spooling?

The first post is "you need to get one with ballbearings" I don't think he's disagreeing that they're better but rather you don't need to have them. The majority of people who I talk to couldn't justify the extra money.

There is so much information on this subject it is ridiculous.

Do some reading.

And Precision gets my vote 100% of the time.

According to turbonetics......precision sold me a turbo that should have never been built. It was years ago, but it failed twice on me and I sent it to turbonetics the second time without telling them anything. They said it was doomed to fail and should not have been built. So to this day I still have a turbo (all apart) that I have about 1200 dollars into total.

So, needless to say I have not one precision product on anything nor do I tell customers to do business with them.
Ill bet I havent spent around 20k with them.........that went to other businesses.

Ive had some bad issues with my precisons. The 106 crashed with idle time and my 88 crashed after dynoing. Forced inductions said both were so out balance, he couldn't believe it. He swore the 88 had 150k miles. The 88 is junk now.
My vote...Garrett.

Guys don't get me wrong Ball bearing is great if you have the extra money to spend for that extra 150-250 maybe rpm advantage you may get. The one thing about the journal bearing parts is they are easy to get and cheap to rebuild relative to BB pricing. PTE's new DBB design, Tnetics BB design and Garretts all new DBB design are all good....but you pay for them. Their journal bearing counterparts are every bit as good. Also the application has alot to do with it as well. We have a few small displacement customers we run PTE's DBB 6262 on it just cause a journal bearing design would not live under the tremendous loads of on and off throttle for road racing. But your average LS1 car also doesn't run 35-40psi of boost either.
