Default help with compression for 347

i am going to be doing a forged iron block 347 (5.3 block) and i was wanting to know what you guys thought about running 10:1 at 66cc which is what i have now or run 72cc 317's and putting my compression at? wanting to run 15psi all the way up to whatever the heads will hold up to until i can get some ET's or TFS. i would like to stay away from meth for right now.

eagle rods
diamond -2cc piston
turbo cam 228/222 115
circle d 3200
s465 (500-800hp)

later plans would be either a set of ET 215s or TFS 215's and a Pro flo intake and by then i might need a new turbo maybe a s472 or s480

oh and this is all in a single cab silverado, looking for ATLEAST 10.50's but low 10's would be

any help would be appreciated

I'm at 9.5-1 currently. Wish I had gone 10-1. You should be able to hit your goal with that setup.

hmm maybe i will give 10:1 a try.. at one point do you guys think 10:1 will be too much compression? right now im at about 8.9:1 in my 5.3 and boy its laggy and i hate it, im sure the extra cubes and compression should spool up real nice! kinda pissed off i sold my s475 for this smaler 465 and now im doing this way.

Take a look at this build we did back at the old shop, it was at 11.0/1 with an APS turbo system. Bob

MikeP sent me this alittle bit ago. Great article even though it's a Ford mag. still has good info.

http://www.musclemustangfastfords.co...tio/index.html

I built mine and was goin to do 9:1, after reading about guys wishing they went higher comp from the beginning I decided to keep mine @ 10:1. BOY I am glad I did. You snappy throttle for being a higher comp motor and she LOVES the boost. I just can't go crazy and run 20+ of boost.

link doesn work , how much power are you making and with how much boost?

is 800-950 doable with a nice set of ETP or TFS heads and a vic jr or Pro flow? i have thought about the pro flow intake over the vic junior because it is a high rise intake seems like it would give good bottom end power for a 4000+lb single cab truck

10.20's is really what i want out of this truck, how much power you guys think that is going to take without a transbreak... this isnt a race truck.

http://www.musclemustangfastfords.co...tio/index.html

I made 575 w/ 8lbs of boost and a **** ton of belt slip. Just put on a Cartek Flip Drive and now am seeing 13#. Pulls like a train, and hopefully can have the car dyno'd w/ in the next 2-3 weeks.

I went with lower compression because I live in Alaska and 90 octane is all we have and the price of race gas is outrageous, also Id have to drive 50 miles out of town to get it.

I'd drop it down to 9.5/1 for 18 + psi. Bob
