Default new Precision 118mm single turbo

PRECISION TURBO: NEW LARGE-FRAME PT118 TURBOCHARGER RELEASED

Hebron, IN – October 12, 2010 – Precision Turbo and Engine is proud to announce the addition of the large-frame PT118 turbocharger, designed to produce upwards of 2,800 horsepower and recommended for engines ranging in size from 430-540 cubic inches, to their current product line.

The PT118 turbocharger features Precision’s unique CNC-machined, CEA (Competition Engineered Aerodynamics)2618 forged aluminum compressor wheel with a 118mm inducer measurement; the CEA wheel is specifically designed for maximum power and performance by providing greater efficiency, faster transient response and is capable of handling higher boost pressures all while generating less heat than a conventional wheel.

Using a traditional T5 turbine inlet, the PT118 is a direct bolt-on for manifolds designed to match this footprint. Additionally, a standard 5 ¼” V-band turbine discharge makes downpipe installation and removal virtually effortless. In motorsports, a win can be determined by mere fractions of a second; Precision has designed their turbine housings to be light-weight to aid in achieving the best times possible. The high-performance Precision PT118 also features a massive 7” compressor cover inlet.

Developed for racing applications, PTE’s PT118 turbocharger is approved for use in the Outlaw 10.5, Outlaw Drag Radial and Limited Street classes, among many others within various sanctioning bodies.

With 16 championships won and 31 records set during the 2009 racing season, Precision Turbo and Engine’s turbochargers consistently boost drivers in a variety of motorsports straight to the winner’s circle.

With over 60 years of combined turbocharger development and racing experience, Precision Turbo and Engine takes great pride in providing the best turbochargers on the market today.

these thing are the baddest of the bad in single turbo technology

How many people do you think are going to step up to the 118 with the 106 and 114s out there? I foresee a lot, but you guys mentioned if there was a quicker spooling turbo out there that made the same power for Phil's car you'd run it.

it's good to see small blocks doing well. I've always said that you could rule that class with a smallblock-everybody needs to learn power management

we are going away from the 106 for next year. Probably a 114 but possibly a pair of 88's. I believe the 118 will do well on bigger smallblock as well as mid sized big blocks. Alot of guys that can't possibly use a 106 will want one just because bigger is better in their mind

I'm kinda leaning towards the promod 80s, they will make more boost quicker than the 88s.

The turbo does not look much different than the 106 or 114, just a touch bigger wheel with the ability to move more air. One picture is with the Procharger F3 131 for comparison.

nothing, more than likely we will have a single on the car for next year.
it's not how much turbo you have-it's how you use it.

We're going to try the smaller turbo/s route. We're not scared to run high boost pressure tied into high compression. The motor has had no issues sealing a HUGE bore at 40#+. Basically the way the class is going if you can't run a 1.15 60' your not going to run with the big blocks, the LS simply cant make enough power to run out the back door with them.

Just wanted to comment on that 118 Turbo. We have ran it all year in the ADRL. It has performed well. Best time in ADRL Race has been 4.13 and our best mph in the 1/8 has been 191mph. Did a 4.07 at hmp. We think there is still a little left in the SBC and single 118mm. Very pleased with the turbo and Eric keeps finding a little better way to manage the power each time out. Precision has done a great job on this design.
