Default cars overboosting after repair

i recently had one of the silicone couplers melt on the exhaust after repairing it goes all the way up to 16psi then falls on its face. (cause i havent made any of the fuel map past that point so its kinda like a fuel cut). im running eboost 1 and it did this on sp1 setting which i have set to 0 which is supposed to be waste gate spring. it has to be ether the vacuum lines which i checked and were good the solenoid or the waste gate diaphram. everything worked fine before and while the coupler was burnt the turbo was boosting as hard as it could to try and make boost but it only did that a couple time before i decided something was wrong. so i guess the question is is there a good way to test a boost solenoid or any ideas of what might have happened. does the solenoid pulse to hold the wastegate closed or help it open i would think it would hold it closed so if it failed the car would overboost

Just run a reference line from the compressor directly to the bottom port on the gate. If it makes alot of boost it has a big spring, hurt diaphragm, or the valve is not operating. The solenoid is designed to maintain spring pressure, at rest the solenoid should basically plug port 1.

I ran a tial on my 76 gts awhile back no issues. Try removing the eboost completely from the gate Ie all vacume lines. the slowy bring it into boost and see. If that hits your target boost on the gate, the reset the eboost. and start all over.

ran reference line straight to bottom of wastegate and checked it for leaks there were none. i think a very small leak is normal on the bottom cause theres no seal to the valve itself just a machined hole rite? next im gona check all the lines again they looked good but im gona pressure test them

Did you get into boost to see what kind of boost it made that way?

Sounds like a bad wastegate diaphragm, or the turbo is a little too big for the wastegate

In for pics of the wastegate plumbing, I would guess it is not optimal and that gate is probably too small.

I would go with a bigger gate, and then see what happens.... If you have no leaks, your wastegate is most likey the cause of these issues

Remove your wastegate completely and see if it's still over boosting. If it's still over boosting your wastegate / flange size are too small.

Unhook all vac lines from the gate and see if u hit the target boost off the spring.

so heres my final verdict after driving it around yesterday with the reference line straight to the wastegate its hits about 10 psi first gear and doesnt really start to overboost till really high rpms in 3rd. i tested the waste gate yesterday it cracks open around 9psi and opens all the way at around 12psi so it has to be opening. i just think with this setup it doesnt flow enough to keep 8 cylinders from spooling up the turbo. its not a big deal the whole motor is forged and built for over 17psi and turbosmarts website said for a higher booster bigger turbo setup you want a smaller wastegate. changing settings on boost controller did make it boost faster and and reach max earlier i just wasnt used to everything working rite. why didnt it work rite before? cause my spark plug gap was too big so i never really could make it into the high rpm without it sputtering enough at the high end to keep it from spooling

but according to other people with similar setups this waste gate works good for them and according to turbosmart this wastegate is for any application and for higherboost bigger turbo cars smaller wastegates are good http://www.turbosmartonline.com/index.php?id=453 so i think im good

I found the problem to be too soft of a spring in the bov. I think it was spooling real hard and then closing the bov when boost hit the back side of it thanks for all the help.
