Default Turbo size suggestion for 347 ci 6 speed car

Looking for ideas on what might be a good sized turbo to run with a 347 forged LS1 backed by a t-56 with 3.73 or 3.42 rear gears. Would liked to be set-up for the 1/4, will see some street but mainly track. Would like to push it as far as a moderately built 347 will go and maybe find the edge of that I am not very good with turbo sizing so all help is appreciated such as T4 being enough, AR's, etc etc...... I ran the APS kit on my last 347 and that was okay but issues with collapsing tubes and too packed with all my accessories and twins. Looking to pack a nice correctly sized single into a dedicated track car I've seen a lot of cases of people under sizing and falling off on power up top and others of people over sizing and not seeing boost until way too late! I don't want that

-Jon

S400SX3 works really good on my stock lq4, take a look at that! Standard S400 75mm compressor with 83mm turbine and T4 1.10ar

Where will the turbo be mounted, in the rear? Then possibilities are pretty endless really if thats the case as far as sizing goes. Just go with something that is well matched and works well with a rearmount setup (higher A/R, etc). I'd probably consult Dr Turbo for his expertise since I've seen far more rearmount setups fail rather than succeed in making good power for what they are.

Jon I'm going with ST80 turbo on my 347ci ZO6 I Will post a new build thread very soon car is already under the knife

its a custom front mount setup lots of work but I'll get it done I'm really hoping for 700-750rwhp on pump and close to 900rwhp with race gas high boost..

Where are you mounting the turbo? Sounds like a pretty trick setup to wedge a unit up front and still look presentable lol

Would most likely be mounting right up front as it would be mainly a strip car and deleting accessories. Plan would be to delete AC, stand radiator up, relocate battery, all that good stuff! Would like to put close to the battery location!

No idea... fast, lol. Really just as fast as a forged 347 single turbo would take me without going too crazy! I think single digits with a 6 speed would be fun... if it holds up!

on my 347 ford motor,i run twin dual ball bearing 61mm turbos, they have .68 hot side mounted up front power comes on very early and doesnt drop off on the top end at all.i know yur doing an ls but other than that the 2 cars would be very comparable, similar weight,6spd similar rear gear.my car is very responsive on the street and boost drop between gear shifts is barley noticable.has gone 9.2 at 157

T4 ST80
T6 GT76 1.08AR
PT88
PT91 (PT88 conversion)

Spool up is all in the tune and the cam. If it is gonna be a dedicated track car then thief are alot of options and variables.

stock ci + M6 = 70-80mm single turbo if you want it to by any fun on the street. I speak from personal experience.

not real concerned about the street, going to be a track car and I think I have decided to even ditch trying out the M6 idea and just starting out with an auto

Would a Holset HX-52 pro with the billet wheel be a good turbo for this combination?

ST80 is a nasty turbo for a 346. spools well and flows enough air to support what a 346 needs(among a few other variables) in order to keep power from falling off.
