Not ERL a custom LS6 block done by the vette doctors.
LSx heads are aftermarket GM LS7 style RACE heads.

a good watch to learn about the heads http://www.streetfire.net/video/gm-e...008_200740.htm

How much does a properly prepped ERL block run with all the trimmings and core charge?

Phil PM sent,

also Didnt one for the Ohio boys Split a sleeve in the RHS. how does a sleev just split? i know a weak wall. ERL has put a lot fo time in there sleeves.

Hell lets talk about wieght. pretty sure everything i have read says the RHS weights more. it is only by a small amount. but wieght is wieght.

Then RHS i have extra money in the Timing chain. front and rear covers that you can only get from them. and the list goes on.

End of day i can get anything for the ERL block at a local dealer if i lose a part. RHS cant

The Ohio boys have a deal with ERL so I am pretty sure they run an ERL block. The Factory LS1 is about 95#, the tall deck RHS is 120. With the material they add to a LS1 block the block has to weigh more than from the factory. The ERL definitely has a place in the market.

Why is the timing chain and the front/rear covers different? AFAIK the stock deck height RHS uses the factory covers and timing chain, the tall deck requires a off the shelf unit with 2 extra links. Wayne said he used the factory covers on his RHS. The web page shows $3800 for a ERL block and the RHS is 4900 if I remember correctly. The Main area on the RHS is beefier and has larger fasteners, with the Factory aluminum blocks you should use a main girdle which runs the price up another 500 to 1000. At the end of the day they are pretty similar pieces at about the same cost once you do all the upgrades.

RHS moves some of the OIL stuff around. heard this cuases problems ( honestly that is here say. i dont know first hand)

every time i have talked with RHS i need there covers. it is nice to know that the factor work on small deck. but the ERL 500 uses stock also.

and your right ERL and ohio have a deal. but i believe it was the orange ta tryed the RHS and split the sleeve. i hope one of them comes in ans states what happen. that would fix this. but i really turst my souce on this info.

Ohio boys have never had an RHS block in the cars, they run the ERL with great results.
RHS needs a special rear cover, it comes with it. Stock front cover bolt pattern.
RHS uses priority main oiling, no downside in that. It is also used in the Dart and LSX block.

i really don't think this is the place to debate the merits of certain blocks. start another thread if you want to do that.

To the op,looks good. keep us updated on how it works out for you.
