Default Oil pressure at turbo?????

What oil pressure should I be seeing at the turbo through a -4 feed line? Having a smoking issue and not wanting to use a restrictor. Thanks

not much if you are taking it near the turbo without a restrictor. 15-20 psi maybe would be a guess.

I've often heard whatever engine oil psi is suitable enough for the turbo as well...

well going to a -3 would be basically the same thing as running a restrictor and how is your drain set-up with the 85 psi at wot???

@ idle I have 60psi and 85psi @ 4k, so at 6500-7k I would say its an easy 90 or so. This isnt right at the turbo but in the feed line and the feed line shouldnt lose any pressure if Im right, could be wrong. Well with that said we put a restrictor in (.094) and at idle 40psi and 5k it was 60psi. So it helped but its still smoking. At idle either way its not smoking but with more rpm it will start smoking and really wont stop once you let out. Small drips of oil leaking from exhaust housing/downpipe. Took it off and exhaust wheel is dry. Brand NEW turbo and maybe 30 min of total run time on it. My drain is a -12 set-up just like Mighymouses and yes the turbo is a low mount set-up. Let me know what you guys think. I dont mind running a restrictor but dont want to starve the turbo. Could crankcase pressure be playing into this any?

I run a restrictor i made using a old nitrous jet and a modified -4an fitting and drilled a .062 hole into the nitrous jet, it helped a TON, i was blowing so much oil past the turbo when i didnt have the restrictor now its mint.

Nah they actually USUALLY like much less than that. From the couple different turbo's I had on my T/A they seemed happy around 45psi at
the turbo.

45psi at
the turbo.
Does it matter where you check the pressure as long as its in the feed line?

I'm running a. 070 restrictor and it only smokes a tiny bit at wot. .062 is recommended for journal bearing Turbo. I'm planning on ordering on and see if that clears up the small amount of smoke.

All this depends on what turbo too. A thumper series should never have a restrictor.
