Default TT TBSS idea..

I will be headed to Afghanistan with in the next year and want to find a TBSS
when i get back...

would like to make it a quick a lil sleeper.

idea would be some good rods and and pistons
nice cam (stock sounding as possible)
head work on the stock heads...

and then a pair of twins...

what would be some good turbos that will still make the truck usefuly..
something that would have good low in torque

i was thinging something in the TC series... like the TC67s or somehting

imput here and tell me what you think... souldnt be too cray of a build but something that could run 11s and show some SRT jeeps whats up...

something that would be fun is what im looking for ..
ideas and input!!!

Are you going with AWD or 2WD? Should be a nice build, I love my little truck.

I'm in the R&D stages of a bolt on TT kit for the trailblazer, hope to have a test kit done in 30-45 days. Good luck and thanks for serving. I'll give you the kit at cost for protecting our country if it's a kit that materializes.

Yes, it will be a low mount. Mid mount is middle of the chassis, Im going to keep them as close to the engine as possible. Itll be based off an MHI CHRA just like what is used in the APS kits, with a precision 6262, 6265, 6567 and 6768 as potential upgrades, as well as the billet upgrades I offer for the APS twin kits now.

Its a known quantity, we know what they do and whats knowing? Half the battle

awesome... what could the power output with those turbos be?

would have lots of weight to move so i would want lots of low end grunt and still make the power to go 11s (or faster)

The power output on stock MHI twins would be 850ish flywheel at 16-18 psi. The twins can be configured to flow 1200+ hp from there on out.

Sweet. . . I'll be waiting to hear how this turns out. Louis, if you were to drop by tbssowners.com and drop a line over there about this, you'd get quite a bit of interest.

I weighed my truck some time ago, with me in it and 3/4 tank of gas I was around 5300 lbs.

I am very interested in this kit. I have had plans to get this done, but was waiting till I got back from Iraq myself before I really stepped into it. I sold my procharger before I left, was going to do a TC78 but it didn't work out. I have a forged short block and a built transmission looking for an F/I setup. Cannot wait to see what the price is going to look like. I have a few friends that wanted to build this kit, but if you are almost done with it I may have to go this route instead.

Good luck with the build would love to see some pics and progress too.

BTW just for fun while I was rebuilding my motor I weighed the AWD system on my truck in pieces on a bathroom scale lol, but I found the parts totalled around 140-160 lbs with fluids. This was my break down:

Front shafts weigh about 12 lbs each (x2)
Center Shaft through oil pan 3 lbs
Differential 40 lbs
Transfer Case 73 lbs
and the side mount around 5 lbs

??? really??? that seems extremely fast for something that heavy at that power... i was right at 500 in the GTO and ran 11.43...

just figured i would need more then that to have a low 11 sec pig..

i want the turbos to come in early to have the tq down lower...

If you want a white one when you get back, let me know .

The only downside to the AWD, from what I can find, is the oil pan/starvation issue. The pans have a recess in them to allow room for the AWD components, it's a front feed setup so on hard launches the oil pickup gets starved and you can spin bearings. Moroso makes a replacement pan for the 2WD trucks (the AWD can't do much, you need the recess for the AWD components to fit) that helps. Just something to consider.

Spooling turbos on something this heavy shouldn't be too challenging. Twin billet 6262's would probably be plenty sufficient, even in journal bearing form.

There is a mod you can do to the oil pan that requires its removal and sending it to be modified, they install a trap door to prevent the oil from sloshing back under hard accel. Otherswise starving the #6 bearing is all too common of an issue not to take serious. Most just put alittle more oil in the pan to hope this can be prevented (bandaide fix). Some non-sponsered venders do this mod (go to the tbssowners.com Forum for more info). There is even a mod to install a different cross-member and install a Corvette Oil pan for the 2WD guys. The Transmission and the oiling are your biggest issues with our trucks. If you plan on going that big doing a 4L80E and updating the Oil System is a must.

Between a tune, cam, the turbos and Louis's handywork, he'll get you there. He had my 4400# '99 Silverado running 11.3's with a large front mount at 10psi. And that was with a mediocre 60'.
