Default 317's, L92's or Aftermarket w/Procharger

I am building a 402 with F1 Procharger and looking to make around 750+ RWHP.. I have been searcing these forums for days trying to find a definitive answer, but I still cant come to a conclusion. Would a set of PRC/TEA or WCCH 317's , or L92's be adequate and reliable for 16-18PSI, and 750+ HP??? This isnt going to be a drag only car, more of a street/strip, so everytime I take it out, it wont be at high boost...I was thinking L92, but it seems the deck thickness is a huge issue. Are the 317s alot thicker than the L92 to support the boost without lifting?? Or just bite the bullet and get aftermarket??

as far as i'm concerned you can't beat the as cast trickflow's on a budget FI engine. They flow good air, almost as good as a cnc ported head and have thick decks. These will give you the least amount of issues of any heads

I was just about to say if you have the coin go with some TFS 235 heads. Cant beat'em really for an off the shelf head.

A TBSS here in town has L92s on a 403 running 24lbs of boost. You don't aftermarket casting heads for your goals...

24 lbs hmm, that should be around 1300 hp or so.

I don't see it lasting too long

Thanks, what size do you recommend?? Only problem I have with Trick flows, is on the SBC and SBF heads have terrible guide problems...My brother in law has a set of Track Heat Ford heads and the valve guides are shot after 3 years..Not sure if the LS stuff is any better...

the as cast heads come in 220cc intake runners. The trick flow ls guides are fine as long as you run a roller rocker such as the yella terra's.

Oh yeah, next time you talk to Andy J. tell him i said hi-haven't talked to him for a while.

Thanks Shawn...I was talking to Andy last night about my build, and he mentioned that he saw Brodix had a LS rectangular port at the PRI show, and he thought it was available, but I dont see anything on their website.. Do you know anything about it??

I will tell him next week when I go down to work on the Pro-Mod... He picked up a Pro- Street 41 ******, a little while back and we built a tunnel rammed 632 for it... It looks sweet as hell...He made it a pump gas motor at 11:1 and still put down 950+ hp and 800+ ft lbs...Thats his car to take to the local cruises...and run 8's....lol...hes crazy
