Possible procharged 370, help needed
Posted in internal but got redirected here,
Looking to build my first FI engine and my goal is around 800whp but I'm not a stickler for numbers. The car is a ls swapped 96 v6 bird, will be a weekend/strip car
and here's what I have on hand.
6.0 block
243 heads
85 mm bbk intake+tb
Stock crank.
Now I know the stock crank is more than good but I'll need forged rods and pistons(what length and cc size) for running on 92oct(9.5.1 compression?)
Also since my car is a swapped car what procharger kit should I run(looking at f1-a)? A ls one for the motor but those style intercoolers may not work with my style nose?
And suggestions for fueling and so on, I know I'm overlooking Alot of things but I'm sure the pros will fill in the blanks for me.
Thanks

Yeah your stock crank will work just fine. I'd look into getting some Wiseco turbo duty pistons and some K-1/compstar rods. Somebody will chime in on what -cc piston you will need. Im thinking around -15cc with LS6 heads. Are you wanting to do a FMIC? If you can afford it I would go ahead and get the F1A. For fueling, I would call Lonnies or Nasty N8 and get his Stage 3 setup (easy install and comes with everything you need).

Yea I'd prefer a fmic if possible, even more so if I do the f1a, the rods should be 6.100" or 6.125? I'll give nasty a closer look I just skimmed over a few pages looking at prices.

I'd ditch the 243 heads in favor of some 317's. That will help with your compression. I went with wiseco -11cc pistons and compstar rods. Your rod should be 6.125". My SCR is around 9.2 right now with my ~70cc heads (AFR heads that started out as 72cc, but they have been decked a few times).

I already have the 243s ported and all so I'd like to keep em and adjust compression with the pistons if I go with a 6.125 rod what are the specs for the pistons I need? New to that area.

It was going to be my DD but I ended up getting a 94 buick for 500 bucks lol. I DD'd my car right up until I got my buick. I still plan on putting quite a few miles on her. I built her to drive her...and hard at that...not sit at home all the time. I'm glad she doesn't have to be full time now because I'm a mechanic and it sucks getting into her all dirty. I had over 50K of hard boosted miles on my stock setup so I have high hopes for a nice, well rounded forged setup. I was going to run my D1SC but I ended up trading it for a F1. I'm hoping to be right at or over 800rwhp as well. Meth also made it decent for DD'ing it.
