Default Might be a dumb question...but do all Turbonetics turbos have the brand on them?

Every picture of a Turbonetics turbo I've ever seen has a raised "Turbonetics" branding and/or logo on them.

I bought one off the classifieds and it didn't have Turbonetics on it anywhere. Maybe they're not all like that, I dunno...but I've never seen one that didn't have it. I was told it was a Turbonetics T-76 with .81 A/R exhaust housing (looks like a .96???).

They're closed until Jan. 3rd, otherwise I would have called them. There's a couple (serial?) numbers on it, that's the only identifier I could find.

Usually there's a Turbonetics branding on the exhaust housing as well, from what I've seen.

Well I found a "T" logo on the exhaust housing at least...

Then I also saw this:

I'm no expert, but at 50k+ RPM, I wouldn't think a gnarled/hacked up bolt is a good thing.

The grinding on the nut is normal, that is how they balance it.

Looks like a turbonetics backing plate, and housing

Pull the compressor and turbine housings off, then measure the inducers and exducers of both....

Report back with the dimmensons and you will know what you really have.

Looks like a regular P trim if that is a 3" exhaust discharge.... definitely doesn't look like the profile of a F1

Forgot to measure the exducers...I'll do it later since I just bolted it back together (kind of hard to figure out the trim then huh ). The inducer for the compressor side was 76mm and ~64ish for the exhaust.

.63/.70
.76/1.0

Sound right?

Looks like you pick this up off of the guy on Ebay. Whether he rebuilt it using all of Turbonetics stuff is questionable. The compressor housing is certainly not Turbonetics ( looks like a Garrett housing.) The center bearing housing looks not to be Turbonetics either. Looks like someone rebuilt the unit with parts from Turbonetics and Garrett. This is not bad... Just questionable whether the rebuild was done right (balancing/bearing specs.)

thats def not an F1 wheel, but the "T" logo is the Tnetics, I agree with chevybowtie. The ginding on the nut would be far less if it was only balanced once so your turbo has been balanced at least twice, maybe 3 times by the looks of it. This might seem bad but its not necissarily, it means it WAS in fact balanced.

This is the F1 wheel of a brand new TC76, you can just see where the nut was gound down to balance it. Not saying its not Tnetics, just not the ever popular F1.

I bought it off of the classifieds here. It was sold to me as a Turbonetics T-76, not a frankenstein rebuild, so I hope this is not the case. I still havent been able to find a single picture of a Turbonetics turbo without the compressor housing being labeled such. Hopefully I can get ahold of someone at Turbonetics when they open Monday and get this sorted out.

Just to update in case it helps anyone else in the future -

I spoke with Turbonetics technical support on the phone today, and they said under no circumstance would the compressor housing NOT be branded with their name/logo. I emailed them some pictures and they said the center housing is also not Turbonetics.
