Default Victor Jr. intake IAT placement idea good or bad?

Was thinking about running a screw-in IAT sensor in the 3/8 NPT port in the #8 runner. Has anyone else done this? Is this too close to the intake valve and/or injector, possibly ruining the sensor because of exposure to some reversion in the intake port.

The body of the intake will impart it's temperature to the sensor body, which would be undesirable.

+1, that thing will get badly heat soaked. Put it in the charge pipe. I think that the best location would be at one of the bends right after the IC before you get up inside the engine compartment. You'll have to extend the wiring. Also, the probe on those sensors is not very long. We cut the weld in bungs in 1/2 so that the probe is down in the airstream.

Ok, so what if the charge pipe deal was not an option? Would there be any difference in putting it in the back side of the intake elbow?

You still have the heat soak issue. You know the correct answer is to put it in the charge pipe. There should be plenty of real estate on that charge pipe.

Charge pipe is always an option, it just may be harder.
