I did talk to them, they didn't know the casting number, just told me same length head bolts. I just want to make sure I get it right before I buy one.

If all the head bolts are the same length you are good to go.

ERL will not make a Super Deck block from a production 5.3

Some of the LS6 blocks had the same length head bolts as well. IIRC it was the later years they were made. I had one when I had my forged 347.

yes the year matters. it must be an ALUM Gen 4 5.3

pretty sure 2007 and up GM trucks, new body is the only years that work.

when i just bought my 427 i looked for ever. and pretty much just paid for the core charge from ERL. ask them about that

I talked to Sean last Friday and asked him specifically that question. "Can you make a Super Deck block from a standard production 5.3L block?" He told me no so I'm not sure what has changed since then. Maybe ERL will chime in and clarify it for us.

i have a ERL block in the garage. i paid like idk 1000 or 800 for core( dont remember) and on my bill it said 5.3L core. so maybe i am wrong but i dont think so.

either way. way find a core? just pay the core charge. byt the time you find a block. take time to take it apart. pack it in a box. ship it. might as well pay for the core. then you know it is exactly what they would like to use. it is your motor. but giving them free rains makes it great. either way. good luck. any more questions ask. PS atleast get the 1/2" head studs. lol. biggest mistake i didnt do. lol.

Hmmmm Interesting. I'll have to recheck that since I'm a dealer for ERL. I know they can make a Super Deck block out of a 5.3L "Service Block" but I thought they could not or would not make a "Super Deck" block from a standard production 5.3L block. But I hear what you guys are saying, I either got my information wrong or I was told wrong or... Hopefully Sean or Seth will chime in on this because I gotta know for 100% sure...
