Default PT76GTS - lq9 370 vs 40X

looking for some opinions-

I sold my running motor to a friend, so the forged 346 is out. I want to go with a 6.0 iron block. I have a friend who gets great deals on parts and he suggested i just go with a stroker setup because i have to buy a crank now anyway. What do you guys think about a 76gts on say a 408? Is my turbo too small for this large of a motor? I don't really want to go with a larger turbo as i already own this one and the physical size of the turbo will be an issue. Let me know what you think!

Not a good idea to go bigger.

Get your forged 347 back. A stock crank is much cheaper than an aftermarket forged crank.

why did you sell your 346? Stock cubes are definatly ideal for the 76gts.

His 346 wasn't forged just to be clear.

I think a Iron forged 370 will be **** on this. Like said the extra cubes would really much prefer a larger turbo and you can save some coin using a stock crank and they are proven to handle a great deal of abuse

A 370 will work much better than a 40X sized motor... however a 346ci build is just about perfect for that turbo. I would have just put in some good rods and pistons with a stock block/crank... oh wait that's what I did. LOL

370, stock crank, stock stroke, with a 4" bore will open up your possibilites for top end options. A 408 with a 76gts prolly would choke at 5500-6000rpm if that much even.

I am still tossing around the idea of a stock stroke 365 or 370 or just putting a good set of rods and pistons in my motor with ARP bolts throughout.

How much can a stock 98 LS1 crank handle?

The stock crank in a lq4/Lq9 is the same as an Ls1 crank (with the exception of the Ls1 crank being gun drilled ) correct, aka the will handle the same HP?

My orig plan was to purchase a brand new iron 6.0 block from GM through a local dealership where my engine builder obtains them from. They said that these blocks are discontinued. I found a running 2005 lq4 locally for 950 bucks, figuring i can use the block, crank etc and i plan to send the 317's out to TEA.

Sounds like a good plan, I think a 364 is about as big as I'd want to go on a 76GTS, but I don't see 6 cubes making or breaking the set-up, although I could be wrong...I've been wrong before lol.
