Default LS6 vs LS9 cam for S475 turbo LQ9?

What kind of difference am I looking at between the two cams on my S475 6 liter?

Depends on which I would think. Ls6 cam for cathedral port heads and ls9 cam for rectangle port. Nothing will beat a custom cam though.

With a T6 housing, I'd use the LS9 which I'm pretty sure has more split to the exhaust side but at the end of the day, it's not going to be much a difference between the 2 and you can easily compensate with more or less boost.

Wait, LS9 or LQ9? LS9 intake is a lower for a roots blower. It also won't mate with the Lq9 (317) heads.

Nothing that you can't compensate for with a little more boost. If you're asking if it's worth swapping it, I'd say no.

currently there is a tsp tsunami cam in it. 235/240 648"/609",111 lsa, which from what i understand is a terrible turbo cam?

so i have the lq9 cam on the shelf or i'll have to go buy a ls6/ls9 cam if it is worth it

Stock 03 lq9 with pro flo intake and ls6 cam, and eBay a/w intercooler lol, simple setup with the s475. Just 93 no meth.

I ran 6.73 @ 103 and that's at 3950 lbs,,,if your in a 3k fox...well you'll easily go faster

ya. my car is pretty much a drag car i drive on the street. i'm so indecisive the poor car doesn't know what it is. runs around on slicks/skinnes/spool yet has ac/heat/radio/efi/etc. with just a cam, ls6 intake, headers and a th350 with a super loose converter it has done a best of 7.00@98mph (hoping to best that tonight now that it is cool here in texas, then i am going to tear her apart for the turbo).

i would ideally like to see something in the 6.2x range when it's all together or possibly faster.

With that turbo and those heads, I'd use the Tsunami. It will outperform the LS6 and LS9 cams. Assuming it's a T6 exhaust housing. IF it's a T4 then no.

What's the worst that can happen? Put the kit together, run it as is and make some pulls on the dyno or at the track. If you don't think that it's working right at that time, you'll atleast have data to compare against once you switch to which ever other cam at that time. It's not like swapping a cam is the end of the world as long as you already have the springs installed.

it is a t6 housing

went to the track tonight, ran a handful of 7.0's before a belt slippage problem finally got so bad i had to call it a night and drive home before she left me stranded.

so you guys think the tsunami might actually be a decent turbo cam?

Isky 212 spools really quick in my lq4. Went 10.5@130mph in my 4900lb 4x4 with a T78 on 91oct/meth. This was on stock 245/70/17 tires rolling into the throttle. I'm pretty sure with the slicks and GT76 it's in the 9's at mid to high 130's mph.

sounds like a normal street car with a good rear end and tires to me!
