Default RUNNING boosted 4.8/5.3 guys

There is all kinds of talk about the big boost 4.8 and 5.3 builds but I don't see very many people actually doing it or that are done including myself. I wanna see how many people have actually got their boosted 5.3 on the road and running.
What engine? What's done to it? What size turbo are you running? Meth? How much boost are you making? How much timing are you running? What kind of hp are you making or track times? Just trying to find some people that have it done and see some end results, this is a big idea since the Hot Rod issue but like I said, haven't seen many people actually doing it and finishing it.

Not 5.3 or 4.8 but I am running a stock lq4 in my camaro. I'm on 10lbs with the on3 Turbo on a rearmount setup. I'm tuning the car myself so no dyno numbers but guessing around 500rwhp from the car I ran last night. I'm running 17.5 degrees of timing according to my data logs with commanded 20°. No Meth on straight pump gas. I'm about to install my mbc up and start turning it up to around 18psi

600rwhp is not hard to do through an auto ive done it many times.

gen3 or gen4 4.8 decent turbo 20lbs of boost on methanol 15-16deg of timing depending on cam and heads, gets the fastest mph, my friends 4700lb truck goes 126.50mph

you can certainly make more power on pumpgas with methanol, unless you are out of injector.

the fairmont is a 01. 4.8l it has a stock head, and a ported ls1 head (totally different heads but its what i had laying around, the one header bolt was so fucked up i drilled the head fucked up, got pissed off and just pulled the head and swapped it, used a USED 5.7 head gasket and ARP bolts, i run 12deg, 20lbs of boost, wawa92 pumpgas with 70% methanol water mix and she is retarded, i took it to the track and it went 11.30 @ 128.8mph on 14psi leaving like i was going to get groceries, didnt make boost till 100ft out, 2.0 60ft.

went 102 in the 8th mile lol

i could do at least 16deg on this motor on 20lbs since thats where our truck seems to mph the best...

that is the same setup, zr1 cam 08 4.8l, stock heads, 20lbs of boost(22 when the converer locks) methanol 70% 16deg of timing in it. 12.0 AFR average.

Back in 2006 I built one for my Nova. Stock 5.3L MPGT45, 317 heads (mistake), 224/224 .580/.580 112 cam (spare laying around), TH350 TCI streetfighter. I ran 15psi + 50hp nitrous. 93 octane.
Home made intercooler. It blew through the converter about 1000rpms... but calculated out to 640whp. Ran for 3 years reliable, driven all over, and beat severly.
Finally spun a rod bearing.

Buddy of mine slapped a 5.3 in his GT91 turbo'd C10. Stock bottom end, just regapped the rings, head/main studs, and ported 317s. Stock truck intake. He's running around 20lbs I think on e85. Spools well on the street. It was a built iron 370 before, something happened and it hurt the motor at the track, thus the reason for the 5.3.

I've done a decent bit of research and found some of these projects and results but was looking for more than a few cases. Glad to see these setup's are living up to the hype. westtexasbuff- I'm doing a build very similar to your friends, I'm regapping the rings, ARP rod bolts, ARP studs in the mains and heads, new bearings, 241 heads, and a 70-76mm turbo. Mileage on the motor currently unknown, little rust in one cylinder, going to hone it and hope for the best lol. What do you base your ring gap specs. off of? My main hold up is the victim of the setup needs work.
Keep posting if you have experience with it.

04' 5.3L 76mm turbo @ 16psi 690whp vp110 fuel 60lbs injectors 95% duty cycle (maxed out) 232 dur .560" lift 114lsa cam. heads and gaskets, bolts untouched. arp rod bolts clevite rod bearings, mellings hv oil pump. its a drag car only but have about 60-70 passes on it. soon it will be getting 80lbs injectors and going to open gap on top ring and do arp head bolts and a set of 243's and bump to around 20-21psi boost. going to shoot of 800+whp or bust.

Yeah I went to their site and could not find much info. I should call them and see what They can tell me about it. It's like 12 years old though. The best part is that I got it for $250 and it had a brand new cartridge in it. It had a 1.52ar housing on it when i got it i put the 1.15 on that I had laying around. I think i'm going to try it with the larger housing when change the heads.
