Question on the manifolds? What did you use for the original setup and were both flipped up or driver up and passenger down? I can see from the pics both are flipped down but are those the new setup or old? Sorry for the confusing question. Can truck manifolds be used if you weld vbands on? I have escalade truck manifolds and would love to flip them down if I could. Thanks for your thread and input!!!

haha well that stock short block didnt last very long. I guess its smart of you to upgrade now before chunks of piston make contact with you turbine..lol. I was really curious to see what you were going to get out of that stock block. But oh well on to better things.

not a lot of room for truck manifold on a nova. Thats y i went the header route on mine and glad i did. the truck manifolds hit everything on my nova, controll arms steering box and so on. there is a lot of room in a nova but not in the right spots if u know what i mean. looks good tho. like the manifolds going down intead of up, alot cleaner look

Yeah, I know, I know. I went out the window. The wife asked: I heard this is kind of a throwaway engine. Is that right. I said: Would you rather me make it reliable? She said yes and I know well enough to take advantage of any scenario like that.

The original build were both LS4 manifolds. One down and one up. Looked kind of funky but worked good. The new setup I was determined to get a truck manifold to fit and was the first to do it. You will have to angle mill the head flange to get it around the steering box. It will still be tight and I would advise solid engine mounts.

I understand on the angle milling of the flange. I agree it looks better pointed down but it really looked great in your initial setup. Awesome. What solid motor mounts and plates did you use?

Made my own from plate steel as the engine is further back and lower than normal. Its far enough back to fit an unmodified F body oil pan with stock steering linkage.

What's your name by the way? Ok on your own plates. I can do that. Did you give dimensions of those plates on another thread somewhere? I thought I saw them. Also I am new to building a nova. Isn't there a rubber mount that mounts to the clamshell piece? You said use a solid one. What one did you use or were you just suggesting? Sorry for another message.

Yes, I sold the old one with the 6.0 setup and bought another just like it. Even at $400, I think they are a quality piece.

Default Ls1nova

I personally thought the LS4 manifold flipped up was kind of cool looking. Seeing that saved me a lot of headache on what I want to do. I've seen every kind of manifold flipped up on here and just didn't get that warm, fuzzy feeling. I can leave the alternator in the original place instead of the relocating hassle. Are you still using the LS1 intake? If so, what are you blocking the EGR port with? How much do you think you might be leaving on the table vs an LS6 intake? Not worth it? Thanks for posting the build. Very clean Nova!

Can you post the dyno graph/page? I'm curious how that turbo works throughout the rpm range.

Rebuilt the 80E and added a Trango HD-2 kit and Yank PY3600 converter

Assembled the shortblock.

Just a few wiring bits left and fire her up.

Also did a little suspension work to get the ride height Im after. Swapped in a set of spindles and fabbed up a homebuilt "Ridetech Tru-turn". Basically swaps the steering arms for a set of backwards Chevelle arms and then raised the center link tie rod locations to correct the bumpsteer. I'll be running it with the 17x8 and 235's on it this year but now it has the room for 9 or 10" wheels and 275's on the front.

The firewall has been reworked a bunch for clearance. Floor is stock though.

Thanks for getting back to me. Everything looks good. I hope the home made tru-turn works out for you. When do you think the car will be running?
